Joe Biden, Obama's Vp Pick

Recommended Posts

So you mean they're not going to hoist Obama to the top of the stadium and have him run sideways in the air unfurling a video of campaign events trailing behind him? Lame.
You didn't hear it from me, but the producers of the Obama coronation were not happy with what they ended up with. But the Obama camp told the special event producers who put on special events for a living that team Obama knew what would be best. This is why conventional wisdom says don't elect Senators to the big job, they micro manage everything, instead of delegating. At least that counts for change...I guess

He'll blame the crappy fireworks on Bush for letting China take all of our jobs.

After much consideration, I don't think Biden will help Obama as much as he hurt him. Obviously Biden's past remarks will be played again and again for the next few months, but the biggest problem with picking Biden is that Obama seems to be shooting for the McCain demographic -- gray-haired career politician Washington insider. But McCain has that vote locked up. So Biden's past comments are a net negative for Obama, his old man insider status is a "no change". Obama really needed to throw a bone to the disgruntled Hillary voters who don't want to vote for McCain, but *really* don't want to vote for Obama. A liberal female senator or governor would've been the way to go.

In general I think youre right but there are two key states where Biden can help specifically, he's Pennsylvania's homeboy and will have huge Jewish support in Florida and can pull some of the fence sitters who might not otherwise vote for a "schwarze".

Pennslyvania has gone Dem the last 3 or 4 elections anyway and I think the spread has gotten a bit larger the last two elections...he is going to get PA I am afraid. To many intelligent Rebublican voters have pulled up stakes and moved to to Florida...McCain really needs needs that one....and Ohio!!I know it is a hot button but I still don't believe that many of the fence sitters are willing to walk into a booth, pull the curtain closed and vote for a black man with a muslem name....i just don't believe it. People like to say they will but I don't think it will happen.

It wont take many to swing Florida one way or the other. I think it would have been close but Red with Shrillary as VP. She is pro-Israel but not nearly as active as Biden for Jewish causes who has had UJA funding since the 70s and returned the favor. Biden will swing quite a few who would have had voting booth remorse.Did you see my Marc Reed question, Akoff?

In florida, anything can happen. Most unpredictable state ever.Copernicus is right about the jewish vote here. Obama was wildly unpopular (for a Dem) in the Boca Raton circuit. Biden should ensure the Jewish vote stays Democratic. And Copernicus, I told you so. Dems run elections like they have little interest in winning.

more like an non-event, but I think a lot of people wouldnt react to it coming so close to the convention and seeing what that brings.Last night was also a non-event at the convention, other than the hilarious ignoring of Nancy Pelosi during her speech. The biggest news coming out of the event is the Obama campaign realization that a full roll call would be more divisive than uniting. Now you can expect Shrillary to jump out of her chair screaming "Thank you thank you to all my supporters but now its time to unite behind the next POTUS and confirm his nomination by affirmation". That may get some bounce.
