Poppy_Hillis 11
I'm watching Game 5 of the Denver-Seattle series in 1994, and I'm wondering what happened to Robert Pack. I was only 12 at the time, and remember my AAU coach at the time loved this guy, and he's killing Gary Payton in the 2nd half of this game. Did he have a some injuries, because when you're killing a first ballot hall of famer in a decisive game...he just scored again, he is destroying GARY PAYTON!!BTW, the Nuggets could win the championship this year. Jadaki 0
He played like 12-13 years and retired. Was pretty horrible by the end of his career though.*Edit*Here is a link.

I guess I could have done that. I think I just wanted to share my enthusiasm for Robert Pack; and get my 2008 Nuggets prediction on record. Turns out it was injuries. I mean he's killing the only guy who could shut down Michael Jordan.
Jadaki 0
I mean he's killing the only guy who could shut down Michael Jordan. No one could shut down Jordon. Payton did a better job in his prime than most keeping him from the ball, but once he got it Jordon could overpower Payton fairly easily. 4-5 inches and 20lbs pretty much guaranteed it. But it didn't happen. Watch the '96 Finals again. I use the term "shut down" loosely, but if you watch the series again you'll know what I mean.

Jordan wasn't shooting well in the series overall (some credit goes to Payton and his harassment of Jordan) but he always came around when the game was on the line.Game 1 = 28 pts 7 reb 2 astGame 2 = 29 pts 6 reb 8 astGame 3 = 36 pts 3 reb 5 astGame 4 = 23 pts 3 reb 2 ast Game 5 = 26 pts 4 reb 1 astGame 6 = 22 pts 9 reb 7 ast
Livaso 0
They aren't exactly the model citizens of work ethic. But I'm with you they're great on paper. Its just a log jam in the west. They lost to the eventual champions but if they won that series would have had to beat Phoenix. If Dallas had a better match up, them too. Houston if healthy. You can't envision situations where the top seeds lose.

Game 3 was the only game he outplayed Payton.I watched every game, he wouldn't be MVP of the series if he got outplayed. His team probably doesn't win if Jordan gets outplayed. To be fair this series Pippin may have had a legit case for MVP, but Payton didn't outplay Jordon. You can't outplay a guy who is nearly doubling your output every game. I'm really not going to argue, because I learned a long time ago you can't argue against Michael Jordan with 99.99% of people. I think it's next summer nba.com is going to have every NBA game ever broadcast on archive, I would love to go through all 6 of those games with you.

Jadaki 0
Would you call Steve Nash a scorer? No, I'd call him a pure PG that was more worried about setting up his teammates than himself. Payton had 7 seasons where he averaged more than 20ppg and he never averaged higher than 9apg. Nash and him are not the same style PG's at all.
Cappy37 0
There isn't a team in this league who's has any significant edge over the Nuggets in a seven game series. And don't bring up the Spurs, because AI runs absolutely (and I mean, absolutely) wild over anyone that would even *try* to guard him. Bowen can't guard AI because then who takes on Anthony? Duncan can't guard and 2 of the Hilario/Martin/Camby trio.I'd love to see that series. I could make a serious case for the Spurs having Bowen and Udoka logging heavy minutes just to slow the Nugget offense, and then rely on a drive and dish 3-point marathon for offense.God I love this time of year. Baseball is history, College Football is heating up, NBA and College Hoops are going, the NFL is in full swing.. Hockey is catching stride. Good time to be alive

They are just always up there and people make exotic picks. They play D, they play together, they play inside out, and they have veterans. That makes them the favorite no matter what. Denver is fun to watch and sweet on paper. But let's look in reverse, no one can come close to covering Ginobili or Paker. Camby struggles on the ball covering Duncan, Martin (for some reason people think hes a strong post defender) is just SOOOO undersized against Duncan. Duncan made Martin look weak in the Finals on the offensive end (Martin exploded on his offensive end).I mean, did you watch the Nuggets series last yr? AI never looked worse in his career, they just harassed him and put Bowen's long ass self on him, made him shoot jumpers and ridiculously difficult shots. I have never seen better team D than in that series. I remember watching AI and Melo making shots and I knew they had no shot to win just from the degree of difficulty. This series already happened! Last yr, and the yr before, and the yr before! Their talent just doesn't go through and I hate Melo. Just hate him. Love AI, but he looked horrendous last yr.

I hear this every year about the Nuggets and I used to believe it. They have to actually show me now, I'm sick of watching talent not materialize. Plus their PG situation got worse, IMO. AI is on a downslide now. Melo is ugh. Martin is off of knee surgery and hasn't been healthy in years. Nene is never in shape. I have nothing bad to say about Camby or Najera, I like both of them a ton. I got a thing for gritty do the dirty work players. I hate JR Smith, he just seems like a team breaker much like Stephen Jackson.Maybe they'll be good, I'd love to watch AI have a good run, I just don't think it's gonna happen. I'd go Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Jazz, Rockets, Nuggets. Just like last yr basically.

The guy is becoming unguardable, and if you've watched AI he hasn't lost anything yet. Nene is definitely a question mark but these type of guys usually are ok when they're on winning teams. Kenyon Martin is a question mark, but he looks like he's healthy through these first 3 games.

He just rubs me the wrong way i guess.I used to not like him at all either until a 2 summers ago I read a story about how he had a realization that he was going down the wrong path of being fat and happy (metaphorically and literally). He worked himself to exhaustion every day and decided he wanted to be the best basketball player he could be and not be one of those guys that wasted his potential. Ever since then all I hear about is how hard he works.
