AZWildcat 0
"My people" just talked with our casino contact and apparently they will "take care of us." Of course, what that means, I don't know, but I'll find out details this afternoon.SO...if we can get a head count today as to who's up for dinner Friday (on the chance we get something dining-wise from CAZ) and for golf Saturday (if we get a deal on golf at Talking Stick), that'd be swell. Of course, we can reserve the right to do something else on all fronts (eats, poker, golf) but this could become a decent option. Will update later with the skinny. What kind of stakes is everyone thinking of playing? I'm not rolling in dough like Mark or Truss, but I'll have a few hundo to work with... Have we ruled out a home game yet?

And no, a home game has definitely not been ruled out. Still waiting on details for what we can do at CAZ, but a home game sounds great as well.
nutzbuster 7
wha?.....oh...(....this thread still going? )LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!Mark!...Buca is a great choice for a group of 8 or more. The place is loud and there would be plenty of grub for sure.Potsie!...way to step up with the hook ups braugh (working on my Maui speak) I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates it.However...if CAZ fails to come through, or if folks just would rather not pay a rake....ANNNNND, if I can get my hands on the right supplies in time, I will be happy to host a home game at my place as a plan 'B'. Mark, I know you have a poker topper, and I have been meaning to get one for ages, so that would make for 2 tables. Chairs are a whole other issue, lol.My house is VERY small, but I actually measured the space today and I think I can make it work. We'd be in the same room as the living room/kitchen so TV, coldies and grubbage would be right at our fingertips TV. I also offer a nice patio smokers lounge a mere few steps away from the tables (for those of you that smoke).Postie, lemme know whether or not CAZ is happening so I can begin setting up the home game option. As far as Golf goes, hell....it's so F-ing hot our here right now I can't see any problem getting a tee time anywhere. I'm gonna suggest we play somewhere along the center of town (Scottsdale greenbelt area) so that no one is driving too long a distance.
NoSup4U 0
Scott I have all the supplies we need for a homegame. Tables, table tops, cards, chips, everything. So if you can host, that would be my vote.Lets see what Potsie comes up with from CAZ, but I definitely would rather play a homegame where we can set the stakes to whatever everyone is comfortable with, and drink and play rakefree, any games we like.Mark

trussdude 0
I can host a home game also. We usually play in the garage when it's not so hot. I only have a swamp cooler in the garage. We should be able to play in the house. I'm at 67th Ave and 101 (about 25 minutes from CAZ). I have every thing we need for three tables.
trussdude 0
I can also bring a table and or chips to somebody's house.

Potsie P 0
Quick update on Casino AZ:- DINNER: Their sales manager needs another day or two to work on this for us, but it sounds like we will have an option for at least a dinner there. This could be at one of their nicer restaurants at their McKellips (non-poker) location.- GAMING: No update...will know when I know about dinner.- GOLF: Alas, the Casino actually has no authority over the golf course (Talking Stick), so no luck there. As far as suggestions in the Scottsdale area, I've played Camelback Golf Club (pretty nice), Talking Stick (good, but not my fave for the $) and Wildfire (Tatum N. of the 101--2 courses, one designed by Faldo and one by Palmer, both good, solid and tough). Also, someone told me Orange Tree was one of the best deals going right now, but I haven't seen or played it. I'll defer to those who know more/better.
AceJackOffS 0
We're talking about an early dinner and then poker after. For sure it will be packed and we'll be scattered all over, but I figured everyone plays different games anyway. What I'd really love is to just get together at someone's house with a couple poker tables and play. That way, no rake, we can choose whatever games we want, and play super low stakes and have fun. I have all the supplies (tables/chips/cards). Anyone have room for a couple poker tables at their place and want to host? (and think thats a good idea?)MarkMark, thanks for the update I would host but I live waaaaay far away from CAZ (power ranch area)as for golf I have a connection at The Phoenician (when I work, I work there) and know that I can bring guests at 20 dollars per person but not sure on how many people. I will check tomorrow and let you knowalso if needed I have a table topper, chips and kem cards if we are still short on any of that

(Tee Pee?)Getting everyone to sit at the same table on a Friday night will be a miracle. We'd be scattered for sure. Like I said, I have no problem hosting a home game and I think I might be more central to everyone (?)....or not. Which begs the question, what part of the valley will most folks be staying?as far as golf goes, these are all good tracks but may be a little tough for some? I dunno...doesn't matter to me really. I suck right now but am capable of hitting some very good shots. Score ave. approx mid 90's?

I haven't played any real poker for over a year. Buca Di Beppo I think is an excellent choice, they do well hosting large groups. As far as where I will be staying... home or wherever I pass out. It's a tossup. Keep the updates coming, and I saw someone had mentioned they were playing in a tourney that day? I had considered doing that as well just to get a quick cheap feel for live action before I donk it up in front of the masters.

I TOTALLY forgot about this. The end of the month tournament is indeed that Saturday. Now, that said, the CAZ touney structures and juice usually suck, but this end of the month one is the only one I will play. Typically $160 buy in, 30K for 1st (I think) and it is NOT capped. This does change things folks. I hate to be a turncoat, but I want to play in this poker tournament, which means golf might ...have...to ..take...a...back...seat???We could always play golf on Sunday?Thoughts?....concerns?.....uhgggggg..... If we're lucky enough to get a table reserved at CAZ that's great, but ultimately, CAZ winds up being the big winner of the night (instead of me). J/KDo we have an updated tally of how many people are attending?

Also, have you ever checked out Kevin O'Donnell's bar out there? I've chatted with him via email a few times, but I've never made up to meet him.
