Daniel mentions this game in his latest blog, but has anyone else played it or know the rules to it? I'd ask Daniel what the rules are, but I hate all those "Daniel, please answer my question" threads.A friend of mine learnt a game called "Big Two" in Sweden and I was wondering whether it was the same game. It's a really simple game, but deceptively tactical. Probably my favourite non-betting based card game.

Seems to be the same game. I learned it from a Chinese friend of mine a while ago. He just called it Chinese Poker. It's a nice change from regular poker occasionally.http://www.pagat.com/climbing/bigtwo.html

I grew up with this game in NYC. It was either called Chinese Poker or Cho Dai Di. Each player is dealt 13 cards, 4 players max. 3's are the lowest card in the deck, 2's are the biggest. The suits, from weakest to strongest, are diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades. Two pair is not allowed. The player with the 3 of diamonds goes first. The player with the 3 of diamonds will set the "mode" of the game. If he puts down the 3 of diamonds by itself, or in other words, as a high card, then every other player CAN ONLY put down a HIGH CARD than the one that is in the middle. If the player /w the 3d puts a pair of 3's down, then the game is played in pairs. If he puts it down in trip 3's, then its played in trips. If he puts it down in any 5 card hand (straight, flush, full house, quads /w a kicker), then the game is played in 5 card hands. As the action goes forward, it will get to the point that a player has put down too strong of a hand for anyone to beat. Everyone will pass to that player, and that player gets to reset the "mode" of the game to whatever he or she feels like. The game is usually played clockwise. Pairs are measured by the highest suit in it. So if someone put down KdKh, it could be beat by KcKsI've never played it for money, but if you want to play it for money, people usually play it for x amount of money per card. 4 Player game, $1 a cardAt the end of a game Me: I won, i have no more cardsPlayer B: is holding 3 cardsPlayer C: is holding 5 cardsPlayer D: is still holding all 13 starting cards cuz he's a noob.Player B would have to pay me $3Player C would have to pay me $5Player D, because he is holding all 13 of his starting cards has to take his amount (which is $13) and multiply it by 3 to give me $39. Pwned. Its a very fun and quick game that all of FCP should try out.

Well if it the game that I know as Big or The Big 2 then it is actaully a phillipino game more commonly referred to as Pusoy Dos. There is also a Vietemese version known as 13 or Tien Lien (SP?).Bascially you start with 13 - 17 cards and it is very similar to the drinking game A$$HOLE. The goal is to get rid of the cards in your hand before your opponents and you can lay single cards, pairs, 3 of a kind, and 5 card hands that use poker rules for strenght of hands, suits are also important, (varies on who is playing it) but the way I have always played, worst to best, diamionds, clubs, hearts, spades. The one other nuance that is different is the the 2 is the highest card, followed by the ace and all the way down to the 3 of diamonds being the lowest. You want to get control to lay down more cards they way you do this is to lay something large enough to get the other players to pass, so you have control and can lay anythin you want.i.e. you are in pairs and you lay a pair of aces with the ace of spades, either no body has two 2's or they do want to use them their so they all pass, now you have control and can lay anything, you have 6 cards left, you lay a full house, nobody can beat it so they all pass again, and you lay your final card to go out and win.As far as gambling on the game, usually we play a dollar a card left in you hand, and since we are gamblign we usually give a buy out option, if your hand sucks, we allow you to buy out for 7 cards, in this case $7. that means you do not think you can at least get to 7 or less cards out of your hand.Hope this helps.EDIT: To the above poster, you filled in the blanks I missed, and this is the one game that I would Play Daniel for money in, I have been playing almost 20 years, I have been playing all the other games for almost 20 years too, but this one is the default to play with 2 or 3 people. Also, when we play 2 or 3 people we deal 17 cards to each and one in the middle and the 3 of diamonds gets that card and goes first.

Ive always played this game and its called Chollo (sp?). Same description as gfdsa146 gives above. I think he doesnt mention though that when played with 2 or 3, there is a drawing pile and when a player cannot, or wont, play a hand better than the last one laid down, he/she must draw from the pile. The most fun game to play when youre not playing for money.

Big Deuce is a GREAT card game and there is even a poker room network that allows you to play it online.

The Bicycle Casino has a play-for-free Internet poker room which has "Big 2" games ... I learned by trial and error, and thanks to the above posters, I finally get why I couldn't by my diamond over a club (I'd been thinking bridge ranks). It is fun, and I would liken it to ashhole ... never played for money either, but the play money games on The Bike's software are pretty easy to beat!http://www.thebike.com/play_for_free/index.php
