his intelligence and level of success is probably greater than 99.9% of the people who have bashed him.
When did you need to be smarter then someone to berate them?

I honestly think Ted Lawson's insane. Immediately after he won that Omaha bracelet he ripped a wad of cash out of his pocket and slammed it on the table in an attempt to tip the dealer. He's nuts. His facial expressions are alarming.

If by "wad of cash" you mean one single hundred dollar bill, then yes. :club:

why do you think he comes off as a moron because he read a hand wrong. at the time he was relatively new to omaha. should he be crucified for that? he seems like a genuine person and a good guy in a poker world filled with sleazy people who prey on others.his intelligence and level of success is probably greater than 99.9% of the people who have bashed him.
No, reading a hand wrong is a mistake. From the brief, highly edited ~45mins that I saw of him, it seemed to me that he was a bit crazy, idiotic and wild.

Yeah I felt similarly. I'd really like to see more footage of his game.

gavin is a gluttonous, usually drunk ex-cabdriver.ted lawson is a founder of a company that has yearly sales of about $100 million/yr.maybe when you're worth $30 million you can whoop it up at the table a little (because you're having fun) and not care so much what others think.
Sure. Gavin is also a great tournament player and Ted is not. That's the discussion - not their backgrounds. You probably thought you were making some really good point while you were typing this, too. ...Sorry. Paul Phillips net worth was really high, too, yet he was also a pretty good player. So a person's net worth outside poker doesn't really add much to this discussion.

http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/poyyou sure about that?he has already made 6 final tables and the year is not even half over.i object to a bunch of break even poker players all jumping on the same bandwagon trashing some guy based on 42 minutes of ESPN WSOP coverage.ted lawson seems like a happy-go-lucky guy who just wants to play some poker and have some fun. people here want to make it sound like he's some dumbass, well he's not. partial proof of this is the fact that he is a multimillionaire several times over, and shortly his poker winnings will be in the multimillions also.not too bad for a totally outclassed bumbling moron that absolutely did not deserve to be at that final table. and you know he did not deserve to be there because you bashers were there and you saw the whole thing.TED LAWSON OF FORT LAUDERDALE, FLLifetime Winnings: $1,627,994 *2007 POY Rank: 6Most Recent Cash: $35,532 : Event 11 - World Championship Seven Card Stud

His whole demeanor in the event he won was like an overly excited noob. In the event he was buddies with Watkinson he seemed to have learned nothing in the course of a year. He screams moron at the poker table to me. That's my opinion. Live with it. I'm sure he's a nice guy. He just seems like a moron.

what the fck is wrong with being excited? poker gives some people an adrenalin rush should he apologize for that?the guy enjoys life. sounds like he excelled in whatever he did.i remember from that episode that both lee and ted were very good collegiate wrestlers.not only is ted richer, more successful, and a good poker player, but he can also kick your asses. plus he has a hot wife.

Calm down rat. Why are you making personal attacks against us? I haven't made any against Ted. I said I thought he wasn't good at poker but he (and I quote from my earlier post) "seems like a nice enough guy." But when I saw the ESPN footage of the Omaha event I thought he was a complete donkey and when I saw him railing Lee and cheering when he thought Lee took the lead in the hand when in fact he hadn't added to my original thought. However, when I saw him near the top of the CardPlayer POY leaderboards it shocked me because usually only solid players find themselves atop POY leaderboards, and I wanted to know is this guy really a donkey experiencing positive variance, or is he actually becoming a legit player. So far this question hasn't really been answered and you've contributed almost nothing to this thread other than some uneeded flaming. Thanks.

When you play tons of big buy in tournaments, it's really not that hard to clear a million in buyins.Lifetime winnings (and player of the year rankings to a lesser extent) are more of a measure of how much you play than it is how well you perform.

You've succeeded in talking yourself in circles. That's a rare thing. Be proud. You don't need to copy and paste his POY Ranking or his lifetime winnings. That's the point of this whole discussion - that he's a knucklehead and has somehow managed to put all of these cashes together. Normally it'll only happen once, but Lawson is kind of an enigma in that sense. He's clearly not good -- there are many good poker players who have all talked about things he's done at the table that amounts to poor poker. Like I said back on Page 1, he's one of these guys that will always get called down light so he's going to amass a ton of chips when he shows down real hands. People want to make it sound like he's some dumba**? You needed to add 'at a poker table'. Because he is one. But it works for him. I'd like to know who these break even players are who are bashing him and where your stats come from, please. You're getting too worked up here, and in a couple other threads I've seen. Take a deep breath because you won't last here for long if you don't.

Uh...really? You want to rethink that a bit? I hope you don't mean yearly. Might want to rethink this statement because I"m not grasping whatever point you're trying to make. Playing every event on the circuit and bricking will pretty ensure you don't break 6 digits nevermind 7. I believe that Ted has gotten seriously lucky seeing as everyone that has played with him says he plays poker like he has no clue what he's doing. Dealing to him as well he looks completely lost at all times. Just saying...

*cue creepy stalker music*I'm done with this thread. He's either a very good joke account or one of those most f***ed up weirdos I've seen come through this forum in my entire time of trolling and posting. I wish I saw this before so I didn't waste my time with a real post. He clearly has some issues ...
