Commerce Casino Bad For Health?

Recommended Posts

So I am reading the Los Angeles Times earlier this evening, either because a) as a responsible citizen I take it as my duty to keep informed on all municipal happenings in my beloved city or b) I was stuck in a waiting room with nothing else to do, when I happened upon an article about the cancer rate near railroad yards. Having already been through the comics, classifieds, and insert advertisements I proceeded to trudge ahead with this article. Apparently, breathing in soot is not good for your health! So they did this study and found that:"Hardest hit in the region are neighborhoods in Commerce that are near one Union Pacific and three BNSF yards. Residents in the tidy, working-class neighborhoods of Bandini and Ayers-Leonis are 70% to 140% more likely to contract cancer from diesel soot than people in the rest of Los Angeles."Now that is nasty. And of course there is a map of the area with a big dark blob at the center, radiating out with lesser shades of gray as you get further away. Guess what famous poker-related landmark falls smack within the black zone? Yep, the good ol' Commerce Casino, home of the world's largest poker room and the world's tackiest hotel lobby. It had occurred to me that spending too much time at that place was not so good for my soul, but I never thought my lungs were at risk. I know they allow sunglasses, but how about gas masks??LA Times Article Here

Commerce Flu is real but has more to do with the chips being filthy and people spreading germs all over them and then other people eating at the table. The only place that comes close to matching the disgustingness of the Commerce is the Taj Mahal.

I think the Taj wins for grossest chips in the country, but I'm sure there are nastier overall casions in AC.

I'm shocked too, but disgustingness is listed in the online dictionaries. It's a real word. Not a good one, but real nonetheless.Noun 1.disgustingness - extreme unpalatability (also see: Rosie O'Donnell; just my opinion)Synonyms: distastefulness, nauseatingness, sickeningness, unsavorinessRelated words: unpalatability, unpalatableness - the property of being unacceptable to the mouth
