  1. CardPlayer says it starts at noon. Not that this means much, considering the usual accuracy of their reporting...CardPlayer Live Update:The Rio has been invaded by radioactively mutated guinea pigs and is currently on fire. Numerous players have been kidnapped by the hostiles as a bargaining chip for their imprisoned comrades. Mikey the chimp is our current chip leader.
  2. I heard Phil Hellmuth is 9'8" and he grinds the bones of amateurs to make his bread.
  3. The main thing I am worried about is some form of cutting and running by the oversea-based poker sites. If the law is passed, then they lose their entire US clientele, which means the companies probably fold (no pun intended). So, why would they let anyone cash out after online poker had been deemed illegal? After all, it's not as though you would be able to sue to get your money back. You would have already "committed a crime" by having your money on the site in the first place.
  4. I was incredibly lucky to have the online poker craze coincide with the time when I was expected to get an actual (boring) job. Late in high school and during my freshman year of college, my parents seemed more confused than anything at the 1000 dollar checks that kept coming in the mail, but they didn't insist that I get a job as long as I was making money. After reading this article, however, I think I'm through. I just cashed out my remaining 8000 dollars and don't plan on playing online again; I just don't think making spending money as an 18 year-old is worth risking my entire future in
  5. 25k isn't bad at all. He should go back to school. If he got a 4.0 in high school he obviously has the intelligence to do okay in the working world.College is absurdly expensive these days. I go to NYU (45k+ for tuition, room, and board), and I know people who will be graduating 150k in debt.
  6. *insert jocular approval of your quick wit with various emoticons*
  7. She must be getting some good cards to get that far in the tournament...I bet the dealers have been filling her up with great frequency, in more ways than one.BAZIIIIIIIINNNGGGGG
  8. I live in Trumbull, Connecticut but I go to school in NYC and right now I'm working in Berkeley, California until August. But uhhh, yeah, CT represent!!!!!!!!!1111111one11``
  9. Yeah, I didn't get that either. Why did he not speak to her during dinner? Was he trying to say that he was letting her do the talking? Was there tension between them? Was he trying to stay 'in the zone' for the tournament? Who knows.
  10. Is it just me, or does Phil Hellmuth's blog seem like it is written by a man who is just about to snap? It has an overly (fake) gracious tone, contains tons of run-on sentences, and is filled with his attempts to build himself up to be some kind of larger-than-life gambling figure. Here are some examples of his confused, delusional state from his latest entry:"Over the four-plus hours we played heads up, Jeff seemed to hit so many cards it made my head spin. He would have Q-2 to my 7-5, with a board of 10-7-2-10, and we would bet both streets, then a queen would come (and he would check, I wo
  11. In related news, it has been discovered that Doyle Brunson is actually a super-intelligent radioactive ferret in disguise, and the Catholic church has declared Phil Ivey as the second coming of Christ.
  12. I WOULD RAISE, I HAVE A SET OF QUEENS, MIKE SEXTON SAYS THIS IS A BIG HAND AND I AM PLAYING POWER POKER!MY FAV PLAYER SAM GRIZZLE WOULD CERTAINLY AGREE WITH THIS MOVE, HE DOESNT TAKE **** FROM PHIL HELLMUTH AND WHAT IS OMAHA H/L?
  13. We had T1 chips, T5 chips, and T10 chips. When blinds hit 5-10, we colored up. We had a 10-15 level because we thought the BB increasing from 10 to 20 was too dramatic, but the lowest denomination we had was T5 at that point, so we just made them 10-15 (make more sense than 5-15, I think) and the levels were determined beforehand:1-2 (45 min)2-4 (45 min)3-6 (45 min)30 minute break5-10 (1 hr)pizza break (however long we needed)10-15 (1 hr)10-20 (until end)Everyone agreed it was a pretty good structure.
  14. ESPN screwed up the hand, which is a pretty frequent occurance with them. Moneymaker actually had the nut flush draw and bet a significant portion of his stack into the 3-way pot to try to take it down, thereby committing himself to play it for the rest of his money (he was short-stacked at the time from an earlier bad beat, I think).
  15. My brother's there and I was just talking to him on the phone; just a few seconds ago Daniel lost a pretty big pot to Humberto Brenes... board was J6334 with three clubs, Dan had AJ and Umberto had a flush of some sort, was about a 1.4 million pot. Hopefully he'll hang in there.
  16. Hey Daniel, congrats on the final table apperance (or, by the time you read this, win) at the Bellagio. My brother was there watching you for a while, and I can't tell you how jealous I was, haha. I did have a question for you about this though:"I have a standing bet with Barry that anytime both Jennifer Harman and Mimi Tran play in a televised event, if either makes the televised final table it’s worth $100,000."Now, that's a perfectly understandable bet (and I think it will be a profitable one) with Barry Greenstein, but I'm not so sure some people at that 7-handed final table would be too
  17. Wow, what a performance by Daniel thus far and what an exciting final table... My brother left for a weekend trip for Vegas this morning, and he just gave me a call telling me he was going to go try to watch the final table. I'm pretty jealous. Hopefully he'll call me a few more times from the Bellagio and I can give everyone some updates.
