So ... those of us who are nickle and dime players because we suck at poker might not have enough "play" to claim our prizes? That sucks.... but I'll enter the contest anyway because I LOVE these things. It gives us micro-level players a chance to participate. And I won an FCP hat once, 3rd place in the 1st head's up fantasy pool -- my one FCP claim to fame.

I've dealth with these on many ocassions over the course of my career in pediatric health care. They are usually less dramatic as most people don't want the media attention or the expense/hassle of a court proceeding and manage to find a working compromise that everyone involved can live with.The courts have been pretty consistent over the years. They will try to respect the family's culture and give them a lot of lattitude up until it becomes a fairly definitel "life vs death" (or severe disability) situation. I wish the same for Nutz and his family.Like many here, I have experienced the deaths of my parents -- and I know that it is often a very profound event in a person's life. There is no one way to experience it, no one set of feelings or actions that are the "one and only right ones." We each have to find our own way.But don't wait too long to head back to Toronto, Daniel. Don't waste what might be your last chance to kiss your Mom.

Those of us whose spirituality do not depend on a personified "God" figure have a little easier time of it. We don't have to reconcile the fact that bad things happen with a belief that there is a benevolent sentient being controlling everything. We don't have to second guess His choices. We can just acknowledge that bad things happen ... and feel bad about them ... and express our values and spirituality by trying to make things better in whatever way we can ... or not.

You're right. Two people do not need that much space. It sounds like the OP is once again considering buying "as much house as he can get" -- rather than focusing on "how much house do we need?". Stretching the financing to the max is what got him into trouble in the first place -- and now he wants to stretch again to try to fix it. A little more financial conservatism might be a better idea.

QFTI was actually trying to help the guy out. I work with a lot of single parents who are struggling to cope with the results of bad decisions they made when they were younger -- and assumed that their relationships (and their jobs) would last forever.

My take:1. OP was a stupid kid who bought a house he couldn't afford -- didn't read all the paperwork and seriously consider all the possible downsides of his loan2. His original loan company was stupid and unethical is hustling him into a loan he couldn't afford and didn't fully understand.3.
