  1. Just a thought but anyone cheap enough to take rake in the situation described is probably going to be tight as a gnat's chuff (I couldn't think of a good "tight as a" comment so I googled it and that was what came up). I'd just make a point of stealing $6 dollars worth of blinds from him.
  2. The thing I don’t like about the call is that without a read I think we have to set villains range at JJ-AA, AK. This gives him roughly a 4-1 edge 18 times (AA-QQ), 50-50 1 time (JJ) and you a 55-45 edge 16 times (AK). Your putting $18.65 into the pot to win $39 so you need a better than 48% chance of winning the pot to make this call, your getting this against AK(+7%) and JJ(+2%) but in this range there’s a slightly better chance (18-17) that your going to find your self with only a 20% (-28%) chance of winning the pot. I might be giving him too much credit with his range as the shove here is
  3. I left a deck of Copags sitting at a strange angle with stuff on top of them and now they're bent. Anyone have any good suggestions for straightening them? I tried reversing the angle with more weight on them and it really didn't make a great deal of difference. Feel free to suggest anything as they are useless at the moment so if you come up with something imaginative at least I have something fun to do. Thanks.

  5. Read "The Theory of Poker" by David Sklansky (I probably wont have spelled that correctly). It doesn't preach a method of play, just explains key concepts and gives you an insight into the math of the game. Honestly reading has improved my game tremendously and there are enough good titles to keep you busy. I'm sure there have been plenty of threads started to good book recommendations but "The Theory of Poker" would definitely be the one I recommend starting with. You might not get a lot of what your reading straight away but sooner or later you'll be looking over a hand and things will fall
  6. Is there a limit on how long you get to clear your deposit bonus? If so how long do you get? Sorry this is such a boaring thred.

I assume you are also a Newcastle fan and therefore I totally understand why you are a little bit edgy. You can't let Souness's permanent winging rub off on you. Just accept the facts that Shearer is old, Boumsong is being paid by Sunderland and a Champions League spot is beyond us. To all those that have not idea what I'm talking about, Newcastle play football (soccer) but are playing badly enough at the moment to justify nicdenoc's little strop. I apologies on his behalf.
  8. I just finished universtiy, it's 11am here and I'm still wasted. Nothing I say is of any value. I play the tightest game imaginable that although profitable really is'nt much fun. On the plus side me and a friend went heads and tails on last night on a girl i've wanted since 1st year. So if any one wants advie on how to suggest a threesome i supose i could be some help.
  9. How exactly does the points things work? Is it proportional to the amount of money you deposit or can I deposit 10k and get a 2k bonus just as easily I would get a $20 bonus for a $100 deposit, that seems a little too good to be true.
  10. Have to admit there was almost a tear my eye reading the blog. Good luck Daniel, it's so nice to see a man in love going after what he wants.
  11. I just read over my previous comment where I said "I have found that a profitable attitude to take in such games is simply to see the flop as cheaply as possible regardless of the hand you have". I didn't means play 72o and hope for a miracle, what I meant was don't raise with premium hands as you are likely to get the same amount of callers that you would have had you just flat called. Play these games and you will frequently see 5xBB raises called by 5 players and watch some poor guy get his AA cracked by K2o and other such rag hands. Generally the only way to win the money in the pot is by
  12. I watched Howard Lederer's Secrets To Holdem Poker, it explains a reasonable system for pre flop play. That said I would have to agree with PokerEyesOut that those games are really about getting a feel for the other players at the table. The simple fact is that someone calling 3xBB raise or even a re-raise pre flop doesn't tell you that much about there hand as they really have no idea how to play the cards they have. I have found that a profitable attitude to take in such games is simply to see the flop as cheaply as possible regardless of the hand you have. Hit the flop big, bet big. Callers
  13. ichi the killer, very nice. You should bust out the Kitano ZatoichiI'll stick with Kakihara for the moment. I watched the uncut version of Ichi last week, wow. The edited version was brutal but uncut, that really was an experience.
  14. Glad someone finally asked about this. I didn't want to be the one to ask, cheers Vade / Jayson.
  15. Playing a home game last night (holdem/ omaha mix) and one of the other players asked why we were buring cards when dealing. No one had a deffinite answer; we guessed that it just made it that little bit more difficult for the dealer to cheat. Does anyone know if there is an official reason? Also do you burn cards in omaha or is it just holdem?
  16. Appologies this question was poorly written. The bet is a totally one off occurance. As to what the bet is for, the most incredible life you could imagine. You can look at it this way if you like, out of the whole worlds population one person will lead the totally miserable life and the rest get the life that has everything, so the odds are 6 billion ish/ 1. I'd rather not bring the after life into the discussion, so we'll asume that both lives are of equal lenght. Thanks for the replys so far and thanks for your patience.
  17. Are you asking which hand we would be willing to take AA against in heads up if our life depended on it?Really what is being asked is is there any bet for any odds at all you would lay your life against (in fact i made a mistake here, actually you would still lead a life but it would be as misserable as you can imagine). I just tried to make it at least slightly poker orientated.
  18. Suppose you have AA and are guarenteed that your opponent does not have the other two (playing holdem heads up and this bet will be called, no bluffing) ,is there anything that you desire sufficiently to lay your life aginst in a ruffly 4.5/ 1 bet. If the odds are a factor here please feel free to reply with the kind of odds you would be happier with. I appologies for asking a question that is pretty unrelated to poker however the answers given will hopefully help me with essay I have to right (in case anyone is interested the quetion refers to Ralws claim that gambling in the orignal position
  19. for a moment I thought it said pokeher mountains (it's the end of long session). As for getting offended by this, I'd be happy to lay you good odds on 60% of the internet being way more offensive.
  20. Just got this e-amil and thought I'd post it in case anyone was interested. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to take part in the mostexciting event to happen at the University of St Andrews in a long time: theinaugural UK Student Poker Championship. With 300 players travelling to St Andrews from 30+ universities throughout theUK, this will be the largest ever poker tournament held in the UK.The ganme is Texas Hold'em (the variation of poker most commonly found ontelevision), and the buy in is £30, making a total prize pool of £9000. Inaddition to this, the sponsor of the Cha
  21. Just wondering if you could if you could post an article/ book that explains the math behind this.
  22. That's a real shame. I kind of feel like I should eat some mescaline and go swimming. I was just reading an article on his death that had a fantastic quote "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.” Although I don't think he had much to say about poker (I could be wrong and would very much like to read anything he did have to say on this subject) he certainly gave us ideas about something to do after a bad beat, instead of tilting your money away at the table go and do something completely excessive and wake up the next day with a story to tell.
  23. I really like 2 3 suited. The flop has to go your way but when it does you can get paid well, people don't seem to think that you would ever play a starting hand like this
  24. I had a guy (home game again) swear his 22 had my KJ beat with a board of A9A 93 (can't remember suit's but neither of us had a flush.) He got very insistant about his three pairs being the winning hand.

    charlie brody

A bit of sincere advice for you Charlie as regardless of whether your telling the truth or the not you’re certainly not making any friends here. No one likes arrogance, if you’re as good as you say your are why do have to prove it to us? I know if I was winning that kind of money I wouldn't be any where near sober enough to actually post about it. Try getting laid, I find I’m a much nicer person the day after getting some.
