  1. After someone criticized a fish for chasing a flush with horrible pot odds..."I don't believe in odds."Personally, I don't believe in gravity, but every time I jump off the roof of my house, I still get hurt. What gives?
  2. I switched over to limit from NL about a month ago, and I'm still learning. Could I have gotten more money out of this hand by betting differently?Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is Button with 7:heart:, 7:spade:. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 3 folds, Hero calls, SB completes, 1 fold.Flop: (4 SB) A:diamond:, 8:heart:, 7:diamond: (3 players)SB bets, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises, SB calls, UTG+1 calls.Turn: (5 BB) Q:spade: (3 players)SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG+1 calls.River: (8 BB) 5:heart: (3 players)SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG+1 fo
  3. Tonight I punched my refrigerator. That made me feel better.
  4. I've seen a lot of other threads on here where people bashed someone for making a read, then calling anyway. If he made a read that one of them had aces, and he folded, and he was right, that wasn't a bad play. He saved himself his stack.
  5. Do any of you know if the 'Total Rake' figure given within Poker Tracker is the total rake for the entire table, or your own personal chunk of the rake?EDIT:Found answer to my own question:http://www.pokertracker.com/forum/viewtopi...ight=total+rake
  6. I had a guy at my 3/6 table last night who hit a royal on the river. Four of the cards were on the board, and he had the ten. There were 3 checks to him, no one behind him to checkraise, and he just checked! Someone asked him what he was doing, he said he was afraid of someone having the ace, which would make sense, if the ace wasn't on the board.,
  7. For the place I do it through, I could not already be a member of the site. The whole thing is based on them referring you, so if you are already a member, it's not possible.Does anyone know if the 'Total Rake' column in PokerTracker is for your own individual rake, or if it is for the rake of the entire table? I've played about 4000 hands of 3/6 so far this month, and the total rake is $611. Seems like an astronomical amount if that's just for me.
  8. Someone posted a link to this site yesterday earlier todayhttp://www.onlinepropping.com/I'm checking it out. They have a chart on their that shows you an estimate of how much money you can make, depending upon what the limit is and how many tables you play. For instance, I normally 3 table 3/6. Their estimate on the site say I would make approximately $40 an hour prop playing doing that, which is pretty sweet.
  9. Makes sense. I thought I just got rake back that was taken from the pots I won. Didn't know that. Of course being a LAG player might still help by tilting the entire table and getting them all to generate more rake. :lol:Thanks for the clarification.
  10. Here's a thought about playing with rake back. Wouldn't it be true that the looser you are able to play (while obviously still winning), the better advantage you would be taking of the rake back? Meaning, a successful player with a 25% VPIP will both win more and lose more pots than a 17% VPIP, so while the two players might end the day up the same amount, the 25% VPIP will have played and won a higher volume of pots so will have generated more rake.
  11. Plus, calling that down, even if you lose, helps you out later on in the session, I think. If the player knows you are willing to call him down with A high, he will be much more reluctant to bet into you with nothing and you can take more pots off of him. Plus, when you do have a hand, he may assume you have nothing and pay you off.I think it's a good play.
  12. I've just read the first chapter, and it's really good. The guy has his MFA in writing. I'd rather read this book than Sklansky any day. I've tried to read The Theory of Poker more than once, and each time I've had to stop because I was about to gouge my own eyes out with a staple remover. It might be good information, but talk about boring!
  13. Definitely agree with that. I just recently switched from NL to limit, and my still developing style in limit is completely different. My default style in limit is basically just trying to run people over, but I think the best style is one that changes constantly, so no one can ever figure you out or put you on a hand. Working on that.
  14. I just got the book today and it really looks like a great read. I bought the book not because of his poker ability, but because of his writing ability. There is strategy in it, but from what I've read so far, the book is good because of his stories. Although the strategy seems solid to me as well. I think I'll wait until I win 700 grand on the WPT to criticize him.
