  1. Sorry to say, but the call was correct. Even if he knew you had 2-pair, and didn't count his two overs as outs. This is due to the wonders of impied odds. At the turn he had 25% chance to win (so says CardPlayer's odds calculator). If he expects that you will call his all-in when he hits (which you did) then:He loses 350 (450-100 the extra call on the turn), 75% of the time and wins 675+600=1275, 25% of the time. This is 25%*1275 - 75%*350 = +56.25Looks +EV to me. In NL you have to keep track of implied odds, not just pot odds when considering calls like this.
  2. The last question he asked was a secret phrase used to identify people who participate on a certain messageboard. Knowing the site, I think its safe to say that he was joking, and just trying to see people's reactions for a joke.
  3. 1. Please don't post bad beat stories, expecially if you want sympathy about "bad" players. If they are bad, then take thier money, and don't talk about it. We've all seen a thousand, and yours is no worse than what we have all experienced hundreds of times.2. If you play above your bankroll you are going to get in trouble. Expecially if you can't even beat the small limit games.3. Be prepared for suckouts at the higher limits too, and this time it will break your bank because you won't have enough BB to cover the downswings.
  4. Stop dressing up bad beat stories in the form of questions please. No one wants to hear your whining. We all have it happen to us, every single damn day. Get over it.
  5. It's a long way off the final table.
  6. I hate to say it, as negativity seems so easy to come by on the internet, but If these hands are really you're real worst hands, then you are playing incorrectly, and probably overvalue your pairs when getting action. My worst hand is 32o, because I just can't resist playing it hard. We all have our little weaknesses.
  7. Having the guts to make a call like that is why he is a braclet winner, and you arn't. Just because he was wrong this time, doesn't mean that he isn't right even more often when he gets a similar read, and makes the play profitable.
  8. If you can swing $1M at 4000-8000, why can't you swing 100K at 400-800?
  9. I am a Christian ( from Canada ) who has had trouble reconciling my love of the game with my faith. I don't make much money from the game, however I donate 100% of what I make at the end of each year to chairity and restart my bankroll at a small amount. I make money from my job, so I can do this, but I guess it isn't possible if your living is poker.I certainally feels good to be playing for what feels like a good cause, but I still wonder if it is a good way to be spending my time. Too bad the game needs to be played with money.
  10. More bad beat stories disguised as asking for advice eh?Your job is over once the money is in. Don't pass up any edge you have.
  11. Its funny the lengths to which people will go to slip in and disguise a bad beat story... :-)
