  1. I didn't get any replies to my post for over a week. So, I stopped looking at this forum. On a whim I checked back tonight. I went to Omaha for a job interview. I was able to make it to the Horseshoe. The poker room looked nice, but they only had Hold 'Em (which isn't bad, but I like to play Stud sometimes, as well as Omaha). I went on a Tuesday night, so they may have more games spread on the weekend. The lowest limit they had was $3/$6. I only brought $200 to gamble with, so I went and played Craps. It looks like I may be moving to Omaha. I'll know for sure towards the end of the mo
  2. I have a ticket to the Stage 3 Poker Classic Qualifier ($580+20). Does anyone know of a way to get some money out of it instead of playing a Stage 3 SNG? Can I sell it somehow (at a discount of course), or is there a way to make a deal? I really suck at NL, and I think I have worn my luck out. I just entered the $1+.10 sub-qualifier to goof off, and then kept winning.
  3. I am going to Omaha, NE in a few weeks. I wanted to see if anyone can tell me about Poker Rooms in the area. I have seen that Binion's (Harrah's) Horseshoe in Council Bluffs has a room, but I am interested in finding out about any other places to play as well. Any commentary would be appreciated too (nice layout, tough 3-6 LHE, etc.).
  4. I am going to Seattle in a few weeks. Does anyone know of card rooms within an hour of downtown? I have seen a Seattle Poker Players' website, but it mostly identifies home games.
  5. I am curious about what people think is an appropriate buy-in for a session of L.H.E. I have read/seen that 300BB is an appropriate bankroll for a particular limit, but I am interested to hear about how much of that should be put in play at a single session to weather ups and downs. If there is a difference, I am more interested in B&M play. As an example of the kind of discussion I am looking for, I will toss out: Bring a total of 50BB, buy in for 30BB, and re-load for 10BB twice if necessary.
  6. In retrospect, I think this post was too simplistic for this forum. So, I believe I will just erase it.
  7. Can someone (perhaps someone railing) provide a detailed update? I don't have a Full Tilt account. GL Bass & Hoosier!
  8. I felt like I did think things through. But, you know this is a web posting forum. So, no, I did not spend a lot of time on it. Before I go any further, let me say that I am not a criminal attorney, nor a commercial litigator. Additionally, I was not/am not trying to provide legal advice, and you are not a client. Through my replies I am just trying to share some lay observations. It sounded like you were taking your attorney's advice (that there was little likelihood of criminal and/or civil activity) and interpreting it to mean that you were not culpable/liable and free to share your sto
  9. I am not sure what I would have done in your situation. After reading this post, though, I am thinking that at the very least you probably should have kept the story to yourself. While cashing the check may have been gray area for criminal prosecution, I would worry that the subsequent phone call with the P.P. representative might demonstrate an intent to defraud. For civil liability, I also wonder if that phone call opens you up to punitive damages; which might make filing suit worthwhile. It seems like you are relying on the lack of motivation for P.P. to pursue any action, rather than b
  10. I believe the 30% withheld is just an estimate of taxes due. If there is no special tax treaty provision for your country, calculate your net U.S. gambling income/loss, figure out how much actual tax is due, then if you owe less than the withheld amount file a U.S. return claiming a refund. Although it is probably best to contact a tax professional in your home country.
  11. Thanks. I know in B&M cardrooms the rule is English only at the table, but I have always played in the U.S. I wasn't sure if it was the same on the internet because there are so many international players. So, is the official rule when I am playing on FCP that chat is English only, even though it is a skin?
  12. I originally posted the following in the General Forum, but it was suggested that I post it here:I've been playing some L.H.E. on the lower limit tables here on F.C.P. Does anyone know why there isn't a buy-in minimum? I have seen players sit down with less than one BB. I thought about posting this on the Micro Limit Forum, but it really isn't a strategy question. Also, does anyone have any advice on what to do when the chat at a table is being conducted in a foreign language?

This question is pretty open to flaming, and I could use a laugh, so go ahead.
  14. You know, I never think about the age requirement because I am in my 30's. Is the age requirement at non-casino card rooms (like the Commerce) 21? If so, and your friend is 20, then check out the Indian Casinos with poker rooms. I know the age limit at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA is only 18. It is also a full blown casino (just no dice).Oops, I just noticed the date of the original post. The underage player in question is probably of age by now.
  15. I think the all-in guy's hand should've been dead/folded. He failed to protect it. It sounds like the result was the same, but there would have been much less time wasted on the situation. I guess I am getting a little frustrated by the disregard for rules (for lack of a better term) I am running into these days. I was at a 2/4 LHE game last month and there were two guys left in a hand on the river. The board was Ah-9s-6h / 7d / 8c. The river was checked, one player showed A-J, and the other guy with 9h-10h mucked his hand face down. As the guy with A-J was about to take his pot, he said
  16. Thanks. I think I will check them out.
  17. I am going to be in Long Beach, CA next week. Does anyone know of a good card room in that area? I know about Hollywood Park, and the Commerce Casino, but I am interested in finding out if there is something closer.
  18. Thanks. I wish I had known about this site when Charter Member status was being offered (a month ago?).
  19. I just opened a FCP poker account, and I am curious about the 10% Neteller bonus. Does anyone know what the free money to real money conversion rate is? E.g., 50% of contributed rake. I didn't find anything on the site explaining free money bonuses (although I did not look terribly hard).
  20. I used to play Omaha/8 (live) about five years ago. The Indian Casino I go to used to have a really small poker room (6 tables). On the weekends, if it was late and my Stud/8 game would break up, I would go over to Omaha/8. Now the poker room is 15 tables, and I am trying to pick up L.H.E. So, lately, I've only played a few mini-tournaments of Omaha/8.
  21. I think you can find some info on rakeback in the FAQ section of www.raketracker.com.
  22. The issue of CardPlayer is kind of what made me interested in finding some more reading. There is one column that suggests that you shouldn't play the blinds very often, and then another one that suggests the opposite.
  23. Can anyone recommend some books that are either entirely about, or have large sections on, how to play when you are in the blinds? I am interested in H.E., and more specifically Limit H.E.
  24. I am new to H.E. and to FCP, but I will throw in my two cents worth because I would appreciate criticism of my thinking.I would probably just call (I need to work on my aggression), and see what happens with the limpers. I might worry more about CO than SB, and would like to hear other people's thoughts on this. Why did CO limp? Assuming UTG is not terribly loose, then maybe he limps in with something like K-Q, A-10 or a small pp. Although, maybe UTG comes in with worse 6 handed. CO knowing that UTG is not terribly loose limps in with what? A slightly better hand? Or, a big pair like A-
  25. Thanks for the comments. I do understand that even if you play correctly (i.e., how most people advise), you will lose individual pots; and, theoretically, you should come out ahead over the long run. I have been playing poker for a number of years, just not H.E. However, I am wondering if "correct" play assumes that rational play by the other players is involved. In the thread discussing the Hero with 6-6, and there is a pair of 7's on the board, not one response put any of the opponents on something like 7-J os or K-7 s. Unfortunately, in the few H.E. outings I have had, those are exact
