  1. we didn't get down to Wynn when we were in Vegas in December, now i wish we would have. hmm good excuse to plan another Vegas trip i guess.congrats Daniel
  2. Complete a small blind with any two suited cards. smash, what if you are first in? do you still complete. my fear is i limp from the SB with say T4s and the BB raises. now where am i? muck? call?i know i can depend on what you know about the player in the BB, whether to raise to try to steal etc...
  3. by the way diverdown, i feel your pain.i managed +$3,000 for 2004 at party playing 5/10 and 10/20 six max tables with a $1,000 bankroll (picture smash cringe) and finally gave up about 2 weeks ago after i joined this forum. my bank account was churning so bad i'm surprised they didn't start to surcharge me for the excess activity.i now have ~$250 at pokerstars and am following the 300xBB rule playing .5/1 full table. haven't logged enough hours to tell yet but at 2.2 BB/hr after 75 hours right now and no withdrawals (or deposits) from the bank account so far. just moved up from .25/.50.get pok
  4. 2. What site? Im leaning to Empire because its crazy. i thought empire and party poker were the same site just different software...?
  5. i was playing on the same .05/.10 table as smash was earlier today and in one hand, he misread the board. i wasn't in the hand. the flop was A x x , the turn brought another and smash raised (heads up). river was nothing (more raising). anyway he had the K :heart and his opponent had A Q . smash typed he misread the A as a heart and promptly left the table. i'm sure he was pissed.i've done the same thing, being new to pokerstars also, i'm surprised that the suit symbols on the cards are so small.

  7. It seems that Daniel has been outplayed. I hope he stays away from the scrabble tournies for a while. We used to keep a sheet of official 2 letter words, they can really get you out of a letter jam and are important at the end of the game. i used to have them memorized, but that was so long ago.so daniel, get that list. be the 2 letter word master and soon you will be kicking Lori's butt at the scrabble table.
  8. sweet. don't forget courage (couldn't come at a worse time) - perfect for a bad beat. locked in the trunk of a car...fire in the hole, grace too, ahead by a century. . . yeah jeff i'm sure we could both go on more. good to see another hipster on the boards.
  9. Shuffling is no problem for me, but I have been trying for a couple months now to get down the twirl. I can pull the middle chip out with no problem but when i try to rotate it, the chip falls off and onto the floor. It ends up either under my desk or behind the waste basket. Bending down to pick it up is bad enough without having to crawl under the desk or around the trash to retrieve it!I've been to the websites mentioned but can't get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect but I think I'll give up soon, I hate to tell the doctor that I pulled my back out trying to master "the poker chip twi
  10. Winning Low Limit Hold Em is an excellent book. Lee Jones is a fantastic writer and, from reading that post, a pretty big fan of the game.great stuff.
  11. Okay I just emailed my tax accountant friend to help me clear this up. The bank has to file the form to the IRS for *cash* (not EFT) deposits totaling more than 10K in a 30 day time period. Does not mean this gets counted as income, the IRS just wants you on the watch list for suspicous money movement. This is what he said about EFT regarding our discussion:Record is there at the bank if you EFT in and EFT out. They don't report anything to the IRS. But.... the records will be shown if you are audited and it is DEFINITELY taxable to the extent you win. It may even be required that you show th
  12. I don't work at a bank, but with computer systems set up as they are it wouldn't be work at all to identify when this happens. Not to mention the US government really doesn't care how much of a pain in the butt it might be, they just want their cut...I would like to know for sure myself so if there is a resident expert reading this please help, it is a good topic.
  13. I am no expert here but I know that if you make a single deposit of $10,000 in your saving account by cash or a source (say IGM pay), or multiple deposits over time from a single source that add p to $10,000 or more, your bank has to report that as annual income to the IRS.Therefore the IRS will be looking to see that amount listed as income on a schedule. At that point you will also be able to list deposits annually to that single source as net losses.Since my net was only +$3,805 for 2004 I don't have a problem but I have spent time thinking about how I will try to get around this in future
  14. I voted for NLHE on Tuesdays and mixed on Sundays. I have a feeling that weekend afternoons may get limited turnouts however, for us married with children types in the USA. I mean we have to spend some time with our families, don't we?Or maybe not, that's a toughie...I assume the mixed game would include a week for Limit HE.
