  1. No they are not. WTF??The calculations you see on poker calculators are straight math formulas based on probability of card combinations. They have nothing to do with empirical data based on hands played and the results there after. If I tell you to put up 1, 2 or 3 fingers but not show me how many then my chance in guessing (getting it right) is 1 in 3. We do not base that on thousands of guesses. It is based on math. There are 52 cards in the deck and the combinations that will make AA a winner over A?o will come up 90% of the time. The combinations that can come up to make A?o a winner
  2. I think you are posting this in the wrong thread. AA against A?o should win approximately 90% of the time. That is 90 out of 100 hands dealt. So if you lose 4 with this hand you should win about 36 (edit). This has nothing to do with "every time". IT has nothing to do with the best hand even winning 50% of the time.
  3. the math of AA beating A/?o is unassailable. It is a simple calculation based on the number of possible outcomes. So since it is 90% to win you can bank on the fact that over time if holidng AA and dealt this hand you will 90 times out of 100. So if you lose your first 2 times with it you are about to go on monster run of winning with it. the more you lose with AA in a heads up situation should translate into an even more monster 'no-loss' run as the odds seek to average out,I do not question the math. I question someone who claims that the math has beend "extensively proven" to bear out
  4. The hands I suck out on are very few and far between. I know many players that play a more aggressive style do not believe that because they push more often and therefore get into situations where they do suck out on others pretty regularly but that is not my game.I play 90% cash games (in Casino) and 10% on net and my game is tight/aggressive. You say the percentages have been extensively proven. Please provide the proof so I can review it.
  5. ...in knowing I am pushing All-in witht he best hand when I get sucked out on.I played 5 sit and go's (10 person) yesterday and in 4 of them I lost when my dominant monster hand was busted by a guy calling my all-in with a hope and a prayer. The hands busted were- AA by A/10o (made straight to 10)- AA by 6/6 (hit set)-QQ by Q8s (made flush)- JJ by 10/10People say that you should take comfort that your reads are good and you are pushing with the best hand and to keep at it as it will change. I understand that but it still does not feel any good. It bothers me more when I lose this way then
  6. Yeah if Gus is saying he put Daniel on AA and expected a value bet then he is saying he thinks daniel is Weak aggressive. If AA is good then anything it beats folds so there is no value in the bet. If AA is beat it cannot call any check-raise and must fold even to a bluff. The only way AA gets paid is to check the river and hope to turn over the best cards.
  7. Online players are generally better at the online game then live players. And live players are generally better at the live game then online players. This is not difficult.
  8. lol. the Aruba classic started at 8.30 and by 8.38 I was the first one busted. I picked up the Nut straight on the flop and after a big raise from one other player and one caller I pushed ALL-In trying to take the pot down now (flush draw on the board) and was called by a guy with trips. The board paired on the river and I am out. Not as bad a beat as the others I have had but the same result non-the-less. Money in with best hand = loss.It is too bad to because only 36 people entered the tournament and first prize is $10,000 (trip for two to Aruba, accomodations, tournament entry, spendin
  9. My sample size is small. It is about 6 tourneys. But if the law of averages catch up to me then I am in for winning the next 600 of these situations where I get my money All-in with the best hand. I have yet to lose a tourney where I pushed my money in with the worst hand and simply did not catch. Every one has been a bad beat.
  10. After I am almost busted and am pushing in with almost any two cards I occasionally double up (suck out) before being busted. But I can never remember doubling up on the upside of my stack by sucking out.Of course I haven't played that many tourneys on line yet.
  11. I can see how that might factor in early on when you might fold or not push because of negative feelings but I am talking about when you are feeling good. When you are late in a tourney and the blinds are big and the only move being made by anyone is All-In. You have enough chips to pick your spot and when you do go in you are a monster favorite. Feelings have no part here. You have the monster best hand and yet you know you will lose. I am 0:6 in that area in the last two days.Later on tonight I am playing for a seat to the Aruba Classic. I fully expect to get late into that tourney and
  12. No I usually get to late stages without sucking out on anybody. I honestly cannot remember ever sucking out on anybody when I was on the upside of my stack building. OF course once I have been sucked out on and am short stacked and I have to push because of blinds I have sucked out on other players to double up. but that is before busting soon after because I am so short stacked.I think people who say it is "rare" play a different type of game to me. And there is nothing wrong with that it is just not my game. I have met many people who believe you have to push and that luck is such a bi
  13. it is the same in tourney and cash games online (at least at Stars and UB anyway. I just wrote about it in my thread "online tournament players..."The bigger the favorite you are the more likely you will lose the hand. I am hoping to hear from a single person who says they got their money in with a good hand but the other guy had better and that is how they busted. And not when you are already short stacked. I am talking about how people end up in the short stack as it seems to be almost 100% bad beats.
  14. Really? Two of the beats were at Pokerstars and the other was at Ultimate Bet.Does pokerstars have a worse rep then others?I am still reletively new to online poker and am shocked by the disparity in the percentage of bad beats online as opposed to the live games I usually play. i play about 10 times the poker live as I do online but I am getting about 10 times the bad beats on line. And it has nothing to do with the fact that you play more hands per hour on line as that would mean I was winning more and not just losing more.
  15. lol. Sad and I don't know if you are jokng but this is true for me.I would much rather push in with my Aks versus his 44 where I am coin flip to win. I feel confident and have not busted out of a major tourney this way. But if I have AKs and they have K2o I know I am about to lose.
  16. Is there any beats in tournaments that are not bad beats?Seriously.I have played in three tourneys yesterday to today and built myself into good position by playing smaller pots and avoiding races. In the later stages of each I change my game and am willing to push when I think I have the best hand. In all three tourney's I lost by bad beats. Not once did I push with JJ only to see I was up against QQ and lose. No in the first tourney my AK suited lost to A/9o when we both pushed preflop. Then my QQ got busted by 88 to send me out of this tourney. In the second tourney my KK got busted by K
  17. When is the last time someone punched some at the table in big event?I don't think anyone could blame the Russian for punching him.
  18. I paid $640 to enter that 20 man tourney.IF someone said to me for $640 we will let you play a very good player heads up but he will have 45500 in chips and you 4500 I would not enter that heads up match. So if instead of buying into it for $640 I instead got a buy in to 10 Man $1200 tourney. THat is beside the $1200 buy in I earned with 2nd place. Each of those 10 man tourneys has 1 seat to the Main event and 1 rebuy. I like my odds better there then in being a 10:1 dog.I like my deal. I know that until this tourney Niagara could not. They lobbied hard to be able too. I assume now that Wi
  19. I was told that 18 year old can come into the Casino but have to get stamped since they cannot legally drink.I do not know if that is true but I think it is because I often see kids with stamps on the back of their hands playing in our cash games. You would need to phone the casino to ask though as I really don't know.
  20. YEs it is $10K. Here is a link to the info page for this tourney and also to Fallsview Casino.I have heard that some sights are already running Satellites but I don't know which ones.Apparently this tourney is attracting 18-20 year olds from all over the US who can play in Canada but not the US.
  21. Well Fallsview finally got their crap together and started the Satellite Tournaments this week for the WPT-North American Poker Championship (Oct 25). It was over a week later then announced but better late then never.Satellites started on Monday ($90,$160) to other Satellites but Fridays event ($640) was the first one where the winner actually got a buy in to the main event. Fridays $640 and Saturdays $1200 are the only ones where you can actually win a seat.I entered Fridays tournament. They are running these tourneys as sit and go's and as soon as they have the #'s then away you go. The
  22. At the Casino's in Niagara Falls Canada you can ask but the dealers will not answer. The games are session there and the dealers time is paid for by the half hour. Having dealers stop to count pots because people cannot do simple math and keep track costs us all money.
  23. When I look down at my hole cards and see KK or QQ or even AA I immedietely think "oh well...my whole stack could vanish now" ...a stack I built on small suited connectors and small PP that improved. When you win with big pockets you often have a hard time getting paid. But if someone is chasing you they can often break you. With a hand like QQ or even AK and the flop is A,!0.9...is the guy pushing chips at you playing 9,10 or did he put you on a mid pocket pair preflop and is playing a weaker Ace then you. Do you fold to his aggression or fire back. Folding is in many instances weak but
  24. There are two Casino's in Niagara Falls Canada.Fallsview Casino and Resort offers a regular $5/$5 no limit game which runs almost 24/7. It is the bread and butter game there. The $5/$10 no limit game runs most days during peak hours (5pm to 2am) and all weekend long. The $10/$25 and $25/$50 no limit games run only on the busiest nights (Friday and Saturday) and by request. They will start a list for any game requested and if 10 players and a table are available they will play it. That means it also sees but more rarely, limit, $1/2NL, $2/$5 NL, Omaha and other games.the action in the $5/$5
  25. Ok that helped a bit. I can see that the tourney number it was giving was for the tourney I was looking at entering and not the one I would qualify for although the site certainly is not clear on that. In fact it is misleading as it says "qualifier for ... and the number" which would have one believe the number is associated with the latter. Now I have another problem. I was looking at several qualifiers today but again trying to find out where those qualifiers will ultimately end up is proving very difficult. I do not want ot win a qualifier to qualifier only to be precluded fromt he main
