Mex and Colby: You guys staying or going? What happens to your shingles during one of these things? If half your shingles are gone will your homeowners replace your roof?
As Ron said, we took off on Wednesday afternoon. Schools were closed Thursday/Friday, so Beth wasn't going to have to work. I expected they would also close Monday/Tuesday, and they've actually ended up cancelling this whole week. The drive up to my dad's took 14 hours (normally about 9). We stayed with him for 1.5 days then went to my mom's for a few days. We drove back Tuesday afternoon. That ended up taking 16.5 hours (normally 10). Probably the longest drives without more than 10min breaks I've ever done where I did all of the driving.

Everyone's safe though. House is fine. Roof stayed put. Insurance would've covered it though. It did blow out some screens on our patio, but those were already in disrepair and needed replacing.

I have been on an eclipse vacation, so I'm sorry I didn't get to this sooner, but I agree with Napa completely about the AE's and Essay's trashbag cole hahns. Out here dressing like a lawyer from a 3 AM basic cable tv spot, not someone befitting his rank and station.

Shout out to Moody, Brvy, I used to listen to these christian radio dramas when I was a young believer that were put out by Moody. It's no Wheaton, but what can you do, the world needs ditch diggers, too.

The eclipse was beautiful, I saw it at Carhenge, as god intended celestial events to be viewed. I understand why it would seem dumb, to someone who didn't see the full totality. But I still am struggling to put into words the feeling I had, when I was staring straight up at the sun like that. I've never experienced anything like it, it was incredible.

It actually only ending up being an hour sitting there. Thought it might be two. I did pass the time by looking at replica game of thrones swords. That 300 dollar longclaw replica is calling me.

Outside cooking brats, drinking some goose island summertime, enjoying the break from 90+ degree temps. It has been a long time since I've needed to work until 9PM, or a full weekend, etc. Up until now it was just studying that was monopolizing my time, but now that it's over, it feels weird.

You just shoot on your own body? Be a gentleman, use a tissue.

Tissues? My boys need a more stable landing spot. I've always tried to have a hand towel draped neatly over my landing area

When I was younger, I had a good run in the shower.

Canada is presently in that 'early Sweden' phase where they can keep taking in the 3rd World without the consequences spilling onto the doorsteps of regular Canadians, so the idealists control things and the people forced to live with the reality of their idealism and speak out about it are shouted down as 'racists'. It will take another generation of these policies before the consequences set in, idealism is abandoned by large groups of the population and the expected backlash begins.

This could accelerate if ultra left wing policy changes are implemented or there's some critical mass of "refugees" that starts turning entire cities like is happening in Europe and to a much lesser (cut still real) extent, the US.

Also, I, for one, find Canada a bit racist in that they seem to have a strong bias for Asian immigrants.
Why such a hard line on Africans? And particularly all those Ethiopians fleeing the brutal civil war in Syria.

Canadian Snipers are like, retarded good.
They're #'s 1, 3 and 4 on the list of longest confirmed kills.

I heard that after Canadian snipers shoot terrorists, the Canadian government dispatches a team of social workers to recover the wounded and relocate them into Canada, then provide them with free stuff for the rest of their lives... because racism.
