the best NL players in the world. He knows how to play POKER. Forget the cards, the odds, etc. The guy can play the game. He doesn't need cards or he doesn't need to get lucky. When he's on, he's one of the best in the world.

Big deal you could say that about 200 pro's. Heck when I'm on, I'm one of the best players in the world (doesn't happen too often.)

everyone keeps arguing that when he's on his game he's one of the best. Man when dealing with poker i'll go more for consistency. Look what happens if he isn't on, he goes on tilt quite easily and really loses his focus.

He is the BEST psycological(sp.) player in the world...he could mess with peoples heads like no one else...but as to being one of the best poker players in the world...well probably not, no doubt he is talented and such, but he would never win in a cash game with the top pros, esp. in mixed games, he seems like a pure NL players, cause Limit is more about valve bets and smarts as to the psycological aspsect...

Are you kidding me? The sad part is you didn't have any SW's in the post so I think your serious. Mike is on like 4 different kinds of medication to keep his own psyche in line. You think just because he needles players at the table constantly this makes him a great NL player? You people watch way too much tv.

Didn't he go on some kind of monster suckout rush to amass a large stack of chips at the TOC, which propelled him to the final table????

Here's the bottom line on Mike Matusow, and I doubt he would disagree if you asked him:If Mike Matusow was as good of a poker player away from the tables (Money/Bankroll management, personal affairs management) as he is at the tables (making the right decision, living in the moment, reading opponents, etc) then there would be very little argument that he's one of the best players in the world. As it is, the best players in the world don't often have to drop down to the 80/160 game on a borrowed stake because they dropped $1 million+ on Full Tilt or wherever his money goes...Mike lives on the ragged edge of the game, consistantly breaking the cardinal rule of poker: Once money comes out of the poker room, it doesn't go back. You can't be one of the best players in the game if you're broke.
