What Gets Into Me

Recommended Posts

UTG was very aggressive post flop.He actually folded for 29t more after betting 1000 on river and post was about 2800. He said it was a computer error, playing 3 tables. Hmmm. This has been a typical tourney for me.I had 1400 4 hands with 12000 on tableAnd completed HU vs this Agg, he was BB then of course, and on que, raised me to 300. Blinds 50/100. I pushed with TT. He called with 33. THen, I pretty much folded my way to this hand.Button limped a lot preflop and played against UTG about 3/5 hands. SB seemed to be having PC troubles and played tight. Although earlier he was overplaying his Top Pairs. But who doesn't call off all there chips with A8 on AQ429 board. : roll eyes :UTG would bet anything checked to him.My concern was he had something like AQ and would bet enough to call any bet I made, and so I wanted to pick it up right here. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)UTG (t2438)Button (t3146)SB (t3786)IGetPaid (t2630)Preflop: IGetPaid is BB with Tclub.gif, Tdiamond.gif. UTG raises to t400, 1 fold, SB calls t350, IGetPaid calls t300.Flop: (t1200) 3club.gif, 8heart.gif, 5diamond.gif(3 players)SB checks, IGetPaid bets t2230, All InThis is my only all in other than the TT preflop earlier noted.UTG while aggressive post flop, generally seems to like to pick up unwanted pots, not raise preflop to 4xBB. SB, was not loose preflop for this level. But, I assumed he would raise with AA/KK/QQ pf. Probably JJ. I did think I'd have some fold equity vs UTG is he had like JJ/QQ, maybe..(well ok, never), given he was outplaying the table post flop and was not calling bets post flop. But probably a stretch to think he folds overpair here. No indication that he slow plays AA/KK preflop, but 4X BB seems to not be AA given he was not raisng pf hardly from UTG.ok, I'm done..lol.*******************ps. My strategy lately has been to bubble 3 of these $33's in a row with tragicly bad beats and then go win a $55, for a $26 profit overall.

Calling looks best pf with such a high M. I don't mind pushing though and would probably do that because I am a crazy internet player who wears sunglasses. However if you think UTG is going to bet anything checked to him, then why not c/r all-in on the flop? If he calls you with overcards then you are a 3-1 favorite to eliminate him and practically double up. You'll have a huge advantage 3-handed in that case. Also this gives everyone else a chance to define their hands for you. A lot of action means that you can safely, though reluctantly, muck (though in this situation you may want to call if SB gets involved, as he previously donked off with TP and could very well be doing so again).

I like the idea of seeing what SB does.Although UTG bet out so much when checked to, I'd have to discount the info a bit from SB. However, probably reliable because he can't afford to call with airalso my thinking was I did not want UTG to have odds to call a c.r.Even though that make me more, I wanted to pick up the 1200, 100% of the time he did not have JJ+. He did not call loosely, so far.oh, and what if utg doesn't bet out, seeing that now he is low stacked and had 2 pf callers. Even bet monkeys (smart ones) realize others will catch on.I think you make good point though and maybe better idea to c.r.thanks for input!

If there's a good chance he'll bluff I go for a c/r.
you call a push (if SB folds) ?Yes of course right?THat would even be a bigger sign of a bluff, no?It may be that I didn;t want to look like a big idiot calling a push/bet from JJ+ here. But my push with TT looks ok.

You look like an idiot if you call with KJ. This is as inviting a board as there can be for TT short of another 10. If you lose to JJ+ then chalk it up to a cold deck.

yeah, I need to think about sometimes:"I'll go broke against JJ+ either way, so how do I maximize my money?"THen again, getting him to fold AK/AQ fits my style better. I can cash a lot with the 1200 I add to my stack when he folds. I have a tendency to only lose my last chips when I'm pushing or calling with a "clear" winner (and he has a clearer winner, or sux out)This might be a macho hangup I have, as obviously, judiscious calls is a big part of a strong game.
