My guess is that SB reasoned that he can't protect his overpair on the flop, and he waits for the turn to check-raise to get more value.

So what do I do?Check/call the flop? - I guess I'm really not driving anyone out with the pot laying 18-1.If there's no way for me to win is there a way to lose less? Should I have bet/folded on the turn? Fold the river?

Just check/call it down unless there's heavy action from someone other than the SB.

I would also put him on a higher pair. Betting out at the flop was okay. On the turn raise, if you trust your read you can let it go, otherwise call down like you did.
