Scott31 0
I'm going to the boat in a few hours with a buddy to play some 3/6 Limit. Now I've logged somewhere around half a million hands online (pokertracker), but have never played live at a casino. Weird, I know. Any subtle differences that I should be aware of? Yes, I've played live many times and yes I can read tells pretty easily, but is there anything else I should be prepared for? Any advice is appreciated. BTW, 2/4 and 3/6 Limit are my usual levels, so I'm fine there. I usually 3 table.
dna4ever 2
Only thing I can tell you is that 'generally speaking' 2/4 and 3/6 casino players are not nearly as good as online players at that level. 3/6 limit at a casino is like 0.25/.0.50 limit onlineOutside of that the game is the same. Reading people, tells, facial expressions, hands, etc all come into live play obviously. Just keep to your same game.
bmwguy525 0
Well if you're used to three-tabling, it will be pretty slow for you to play one live. Live games are slower than he internet, because the dealer has to shuffle, collect the bets, count out the rake, etc...Just make sure to be patient. But, it's easier to be patient when you have chips in front of you instead of numbers on a monitor. Also, people play looser online, so don't play as many hands as you would if you were playing "online idiots". obs 0
All I know is that if you can win at 3/6 online you should probably be able to move up in limits live. Remember, you are only getting about 35 hands/hour live. Assuming you multi-table (and I am if you cleared 500k hands), you could be getting 250+ hands/hour online. From what I have read, the 2/4 and 3/6 tables live are about the same as the .50/1 and 1/2 tables online in terms of skill level.
dna4ever 2
But, it's easier to be patient when you have chips in front of you instead of numbers on a monitor.I think thats an excellent point. 3 - 5 tabling online your seeing 300 or so hands an hour where you may only see 40 at a table. If your used to playing a lot of hands every other minute or two you will definitely have to remember to be patient and pick your spots. Its easy to get bored and start playing hands your normally wouldnt play just so you can play. Scott31 0
This is why poker players riffle chips.LOL. I riffle chips when I play online, so I guess I got that down. I had heard that for some reason, live games are softer than internet. I'm still not sure why.....maybe it's the drinking or the tourist factor. Anyone got an explanation for that? Vade 0
Live games are softer at the equivalent stakes2/4 live is much easier then 2/4 online where most people have earned their way to 1200 by playingMost playing 2/4 live just have some money to gamble with and don't actually have a built up bankroll
JFarrell20 1
The difference is that in live play, the avatars are in 3-D, and they move.

Scott31 0
Disturbing :-) Thanks for the advice guys. I'm off to make some money. Although I'm a bit skeptical. It's been a while since I played the .50/1.00 tables (which is the general consensus on the skill level of 3/6 live), so I'm not sure of the differences. Mostly, I just remember ridiculously loose calls and a lot of "expert" chatter, mostly from guys who knew little about poker.
