Rate The First Two Main Event Shows On Espn

Recommended Posts

Grade the shows on a 10 point scale:I gave the first two shows an average score of 5.5.I'm hoping for much better. I know there's chaos on Days 1A-D but with Hellmuth and Matusow subdued, I think showing action on the outer tables might have been the way to go. Given the fact that they have had considerable time to edit and voiceover, I was hoping for better.Burgerman

I'd give it a 7.5.They really didn't explain much about the fact that there are four day ones. Lon said that they needed to split up day one but he didn't say how many times. Also they combined 1a and 1b together, and 1c and 1 d together i think. Daniel was playing on 1C but he was in the second episode. The last thing i didn't like was the first hand they showed was Ivey doubling up. They should have shown a couple of hands from the featured table. However when Phil was facing an all in and said that thing about Norman Chad wanting him to bust and Chad said 'I do?" that was pretty funny.

B O R I N Galthough I did make it on TV, standing to the right of Doyle during his coronation entrance during the opening moment (day 1b actually). Seems like some of the time line editing is out of order too.I found it annoying the way they tried to make Phil look like he was having a meltdown when he wasn't. He was actually being pretty cool. I love how that no name punk says "just muck the cards Phil" in a lame attempt to provoke Helmuth and get some airtime. Jopke. The second one with Daniel and Mike was far more interesting, but overall not that entertaining to watch either. So far?....4 out of 10.Can't wait to see FCP's very own Great Dane at the TV table! :club:

The dude who got the near minimum with aces attends the same college as me.They mentioned his name, but there are a half dozen Mike Martin's. So, I have to find them all and see which one plays poker and take all his money.

Let's see..on a scale of 1-10? Probably a 4.5...Phil H. was annoying as usual...only this time he's trying too hard to build his tired image of being a brat. His act is getting old. I predict his fame is going the way of the 8-track tape. He's quickly becoming old news. The Mouth was boring, too. But he can't always be a jerk. The guy who was the biggest idiot was the one who quoted The Mouth by saying something like "this game ain't for kiddies..." after winning a hand. He was trying to look tough, mean, important, cool, etc. What a donkey...The WSOP Hype machine is getting out of control. Steve Dannenemenememmmannemman is even getting on the hype bandwagon with his group of friends and T-shirts with clever sayings like "Phil is a jerk" or whatever. And who cares if David Williams mom is now playing? Does she have a porn video coming out, too?Give me an hour of Brad Garrett...now that's entertainment.

I would give the show a 3.I thought that the show was a total disappointment. They dont show enough hands. It seems like they show one hand and then they go to some sob story about Andrew Black Being a Buddhist or Matusow being in prison. Who the hell cares just show me poker.Cant wait til they show the HORSE final table with so many great players.

to quote Dane Cook..."I hate girls with bad teeth, thats a turnoff. If she opens her mouth, and it's like a battle of epic proportions in there, thats a turnoff."

the hands they did show were good but they talked too much about peoples home life, if norman chad would fill us in while the had is going on that would be just as good and the people they did talk about got nocked off they need to start building us up for the final 100 people, but they were on Phill H too much he is the only one they showed driving up to the casino and he was out fast.

ESPN is definitely overdoing those vigenettes on poker players.I'm surprised with the way Mike was acting. He wasn't his normal chatty, obnoxious self. Must have changed his meds. Or he didn't get any blow before the event.

6/10 Thankfully focus was not just on the TV tables, because if that was the case it would have been the most boring television of all time, especially the Matusow table. Phil Helmuths table was more interesting, if only to see his reaction to having JJ v QQ then KK v AA on the first 2 hands lol. Otherwise, as someone who has never been to the ME, I did enjoy these shows because it gave a good perspective on what it was like being there. I also thought it gave an interesting insight into how the pro's cope with playing against the newbies....and vice versa! It must be very daunting to play in your very first ME having only played internet poker, to then sit down next to Matusow at a TV table!!!
