Why Do Most People On Earth Belong To False Religions?

Recommended Posts

What is it that makes most people on Earth stupid enough to join fake religions that lie to them and worship gods that don't exist?I'm completely sincere and serious. I'm not trying to troll or offend.

Well, most people belong to fake religions. No matter which religion is actually professing the truth, the fact is that most people belong to a fake religion. This is because most religions and sects have mutually exclusive beliefs.

this angle has been tried at least a dozen times to try to help the christian fundamentalists on this board gain a realistic global perspective of their faith. never works unfortunately.

I'm not trying to convince people that they might be wrong. I just want to know what they think about people who believe in religions that aren't theirs.
so then in other words you're just asking what specific lies fundamentalists brainwash themselves to believe to get around the statistical illogic to their faith (which you just pointed out)?

Because most people weren't born with the ability to think for themselves. I was 5 or 6 when my dad was telling me about god and I asked him, "where is he?" and he said well, you can't see him, he's just there. As soon as I heard that I was done. Please, you can't be serious. You want me to believe in something that's not there? Ain't happening. There's a lot of tension between us because I'm a non believer and he went overboard with religion. Oh well. If people need something to believe in they should believe in themselves and leave it at that.

because they think they're right and others are wrong. pretty simple there.to be more general, they believe in god and religion because their lives otherwise suck. that is an oversimplification, but not much of one.

Come on. Does that mean everyone not in a religion has a wonderful life? I actually have a pretty fulfilled life that might go on without a belief in God. Most of us go through periods of suckiness anyway.Right and wrong statement is closer. OP response. Decieved. That is the real view of one group vs. another. It doesn't imply stupidness, just deception. As I think you know, a Christian for example, believes that there is God and good. He/she also believes that there is Satan and bad. Those that are not believers in God or Christ, are there by decieved by Satan who is actively working for the perishment of all people. Is that even a word "perishment?"

Perishment is not a word. Your assumption that Satan is actively deceiving non-believers is spot on though.

I was working it though, right. Maybe I should have started off my sentence with "My fellow Americans. . ."

Definitely not. Many people gain fulfillment, hope, etc from religion during a period of suckiness in their life, though their entire life does not necessarily suck - I should've phrased it that way.

Satan is actively deceiving non-believers.
Hey, can you explain Satan to me? I don't really get it. How and why does he exist if God is omnipotent? I know my Christian friend had some trouble dealing with this question, but then finally figured it out. He says that questioning religion is good, because that strengthens it.

Actually, your friend is correct. Questioning ones own religion is good in that it forces you to answer rather than blindly accept. As far as the Satan question- he is an angel gone bad. He wanted to take over heaven. God din't allow it, and threw him and his followers out, and built them there own little house of sorts. As far as why he exists- I think that one way to put it is that in order for there to be good- in order for it to be recognizable anyway- evil has to exist. There is no other way. Otherwise good would just be an unrecognizble life- it would almost in some ways be a sort of non- existence becasue there would be no guage, no measuring stick- in essence, humanity would just be robots, with no choice but to just be what it is that God programmed you to be.

Then why are we humans so arrogant to undo Satan's work (by feeding the hungry and converting non-believers)?Should we be happy that millions are starving, because it provides contrast to our luxury? Should we be happy that billions are going to hell, because it provides contrast to heaven?

That's the most retarded thing you have ever asked, I realize you think it's funny, and you have the constant SW, but really, a waste of thought. In order to do good there must be bad. There will always be an abundance of bad, because we lievin an evil world. Beyond that I won't dignify your question.

I'm totally serious.God is omnipotent. God is pure good. God only allows Satan's existence to let us know how good good is by contrasting it with evil. It stands reason that God would only allow Satan to evilly affect the Earth the minimum amount (even if I'm wrong here, the following statements are still valid). By reducing the evil in the world, we're messing with God's plan. Trying to change the world is just interfering with God.

Satan only effects the world as much as we as humans allow him too. Example- Porn is bad. For the most part, it adds nothing to relationships except indulgence of fantasy and what we cannot have, and shouldn't want anyway. It is also extremely addictive. What if the whole world said no to Porn today, forever? That would be one tool Satan could no longer use. That's just one example- Satan only has power because we, through our own desires, allow it. God never told me to reduce the evil in the world- I am called to reduce the pull that evil has on me, and share that experience with others, God is good in that way- there is no big picture, there is just me and my war against my flesh. I think that what you are possibly getting at is why doesn't God make Satan just dissapear. I would imagine that a spirit cannot be eradicated, it can only be corraled. I would like to ask him that someday myself.
