GaryMorris 0
2005-03-06 21:15:00 Title: The Final Four Will Begin shortly after 9:30 pm Log: The Final Four has been set, with a winner from each of the four brackets: Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, T.J. Cloutier, and Antonio Esfandiari. We have a good mix of strong players represented in the Final Four -- Ferguson and Hellmuth are former World Series Champions, Cloutier has one of the most distinguished tournament careers in the game, and Antonio Esfandiari is a World Poker Tour winner who represents the generation of impressive "Young Guns" in poker. The players are set to return to the arena at 9:30 pm, and the Final Four will begin soon after. SportsW234 0
You could not ask for a better final four. You have a rematch between Jesus and Cloutier who last met in the main event of the big one where T.J. outplayed Jesus to get even in chips, but then lose on a heartbreaking river. It will be a great match. My pick is T.J.Antonio and Hellmuth have had a couple run ins before. They first clashed on the WPT San Francisco when an unknown Esfandari totally frustrated Phil with his reckless and agressive play. They met again at this year's World Series in a Pot Limit Hold'em event, which Antonio won. Of all the final four opponents Antonio is the most agressive and loose and the player who I think would give Phil the most trouble. However, I think Phil has played with Antonio enough now to know what he is capable of and I give the edge to Hellmuth.Cloutier and Hellmuth met heads up once before at the 2001 World Series which Hellmuth won. In a poll taken three years ago by poker players, they were voted 1-2 as the best tournament NLH players. I could flip a coin and decide who is going win, but my instincts tell me that Hellmuth is going to break his T.V. curse and win taking the crown.Cloutier-Ferguson 2000 WSOP article: http://casino.com/poker/10000-No-Limit-Hol...angerously.htmlCloutier-Hellmuth 2001 WSOP article: http://casino.com/poker/Clash-of-the-Titans.html2001 Poker Poll: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...a_id=172&m_id=
epistemic 0
I am in total agreement there Sports, vn take on the match-up. Being very familiar with Hellmuth's tournament record, I wanted to paste this video here as it's quite funny, when Hellmuth starts to joke about how he does very well in odd years versus even.http://www.chipmover.co.uk/wsop2004/philhe...hellmuthdsl.wmv
STACKED 0
In a rematch of the 2000 WSOP where TJ and Jesus were the final two, I predict that TJ wins this time. I'm also pickin' Hellmuth to go to the finals just 'cuz he hasn't been winnin' lately. He's due. I think/would like TJ to win the whole thing.
bsabres81 0
Yeah, TJ played magnificently in 2000, and by all accounts thoroughly outplayed Ferguson. I would be surprised if the outcome is the same this time. Either way, this is an absolute dream matchup.

Petoria 0
Phil Hellmuth v. Antonio Esfandiari: Hellmuth Advances to the Championship Match Log: After a rainbow flop of K-4-3, Antonio Esfandiari bets $17,500 into the pot. Phil Hellmuth raises it another $20,000. Antonio thinks for a while before reraising, and Phil immediately waves all in. Antonio calls, showing K-J for top pair, but Phil flips over pocket fours for a set. Phil has more chips than Antonio, and Antonio needs running kings or jacks. But the turn is a 10, eliminating Antonio Esfandiari, who earns $125,000. Phil Hellmuth Advances to the Championship Match, where he will face the winner of the Chris Ferguson/T.J. Cloutier match. At least we know that someone could cry after this is over tonight.
