ok i really dont know how it goes at these stakes but i play these hands way more passively on the flop. you are the one with most likely the best hand and the best draw. i like the aggro players betting into me if they are behind with at best six outs (aq), dont stop them from doing this by raising the flop. if he is ahead with an overpair you dont want to be raising either, because you want to hit your flush for cheap. there are two other callers so if you think you can get rid of them i guess it would be best to be putting in isolation raises. the way the positions are layed out and your opponents i think raising doesnt really accomplish much. the way that you played it is ok as well but you have to bet this river unless the preflop raiser is a total rock. if he has you beat what is he afraid of to make him not bet out at the river? does he really put you on a 9 if you didnt raise the turn. im guessing you are against an ak or aq if he is a pretty average aggro player. if hes a total ***** then check it through because you a most likely beat.

tylerc, flop play was perfecto.we raise for value here, first of all.We have TP and FD, as you know.We don't care if BB has AA-QQ. We have MP coming along and our equity is way >33%. Flop play is perfect. You don't want to slow play a flush draw in big multi-way pots. For example the flop raise and BB's 3-bet got UTG to fold, after he already called a bunch of bets. Seems like a lousy fold to me. you never know the times he folds the back door draw that takes down the pot.I cannot emphasis enoguh how this flop play is standardly perfect.I wonder at what stakes it's not ???BB is checking the river with AA-QQ if he's afraid of the BDFD coming in.Or a 9. Players don't value bet Rivers at .5/1 nearly enough. Nonetheless, it does not mean our Hero should bet. BB has AK a fair amount, maybe, but there are few hands that call us on river that we beat.

I'd have to assume that equity is equity no matter what stakes we play, no?- Zach

i could be wrong on this one actuary. what do you think about raising the turn instead? are you really trying to push out a ten or the ace of clubs on the flop? straight draws and flush draws are coming along anyway and the nine is a pretty safe card in my opinion. you would also slow down an overpair and be more likely to check it down if an ace or queen hits the river. i understand the raise for value on the flop but wouldnt this line give you a bit more value. this is how i was playing these hands at 10/20 but this could be a big leak of mine. i guess somewhere along the way i fell in love with going crazy on the turn over the flop, god only knows why. hmm i just noticed that it wasnt the bb that lead the turn. thats confusing in this case. if i played the flop slow and utg led the turn raising in this case would be read dependant. this usually smells like a bluff to me and if you could get an overpair out the bb to fold your raise here, life would be sweet. if it gets three bet that would blow, but thats life.

I'm not trying to fold anybody, really, on the flop. I'm just pounding my equity edge. We won't have that edge when we miss on the turn.As for UTG leading out on the turn, that just tells me my J is rarely good anymore.- Zach

what hand do you think he has? this is an extremely fishy bet in my opinion. the amount of action on the flop makes it a great opportunity for him the ckrse the turn if he does have a nine or has slowplayed his set. this feels like a bluff to me whether it be a draw or some sort of jack. since he posted are you thinking 810 is a possibility? i guess i dont understand equity, dont you think you are ahead on the flop even without the flush draw? doesnt raising the turn get you more money in this situation? i guess it depends on how many callers you get.

Well, I'm ahead often, but not always. I think when he 3-bet, I'm most definitely behind 90% of the time.Let me give you a quick equity definition before I go.With just a flush draw alone here, not considering my outs to trips or two pair, on the flop we have 9 outs. Our stake in that pot is whatever percentage of the time we will win it. With a flush draw, it's usually around 35% against a typical range. The idea with extracting value from it, is that we are making money when we are putting in a portion of the bets, less than our equity. For example, when we are 3-handed, we are putting in 33% of the bets. Our equity is > 33%, therefore we are getting value.I'm going to post a hand with a nut flush draw. Check that one out for equity play on the flop.- Zach

ok, how do you play this hand if you are hu going into the flop?
Tough to say, because this would be a steal situation if it were heads up, and the whole hand would be different. He would 3-bet with a lot more than average.
