I don't know if this is worth posting, and it didn't bother me, but I'll throw it out here since I just remembered it.Awhile back I was in a live 6-12 LHE game. Someone I had no read on raised in EP, so I mucked K-Q off. After I mucked, the dealer says "You're too tight... should at least call". Then the flop comes with a Q, and he says "See?"Is this fine?

No this is not fine. Dealers should never comment on the play of the game especially not in this manner. I have managed a cardroom and if one of my dealers did this regularly he would be fired.

Is this a troll?I would have punched the dealer in the face then called the floor manager to finish the job.Ok, maybe I wouldn't have called the floor manager...Ray

How did he know what your cards were? Did you show them to him as you mucked? If so, you should take some of the responsibility for the dealer's faux pas on yourself. In any case, the dealer should keep his yapper shut. It's not his place to play "table captain".

No I just mucked them face down, and it surprised the hell out of me when he said that. He peeked himself

If he said it to you in private, that's bad enough, but if he made a comment like that to the entire table he should be fired. I would have absolutely gone to the floor on that one, totally unprofessional and against the rules.

Yeah, it was directed at me, he didn't proclaim it to the table. Still though, its not too private.

There's a reason why players aren't permitted to discuss their hands during play. It gives players information they otherwise wouldn't have. If he whispered in your ear low enough that no one else could hear, then I guess it isn't that horrible. If even a single other player was able to hear what he said, then he should be fired. It lets the other players know that they can push you off overcards, and lets the players who are still in the hand know that there's one less Queen to worry about.

Yeah I forgot to mention in my original post that I was sitting right next to him on one side.

I would have been pretty censored.
Now that I've got the whole story it seems more inappropriately harmless than anything. If he'd said it to the whole table, I would have gone nuclear, but this seems like a dealer trying to be a nice guy and get a tip next hand.

Either way he should mind his own business. I could understand if you had developed a rapport with said dealer, and he was just messing with you, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I wouldn't call the floorman or anything, but I would have definitely been censoreded off.

I see this a lot at my local room where they only play $1-2LH and it totally out of line and pisses me off. I also hate when there's a douche in the 1 or 10 seat that feels the need to constantly show the dealer what he folded. Like they really give a shit anyway.

Ridiculous. Same thing happens at the local cardroom I play at. Worse still is this. I muck a hand like q-2, and the dealer peeks as he occasionally does. That in itself is unacceptable. When I folded he said, nope you should have called. And the flop came down x-2-2. I asked him after the hand if he knew that was coming. He said "When I was shuffling those cards together I noticed 4 twos were stuck together and that at least one would definitely show up on the flop." I told him next time he notices that, try reshuffling. I was slightly annoyed and withheld a tip on the next pot I won.

Gotta tell the floor about something like that, and dealers should be cutting the deck onto a cut card anyway.

While we are beating the dealers to a pulp...I really hate when dealers push the game as fast a possible. I understand the need to keep the action going so that the house and the dealer can get their tips, but he is providing me with a service. How about dealers that ignore the request to see a hand after a showdown...this really pisses me off.I will say that most of the dealers I have seen do a real good job. Keeping in mind that they are human, I am impressed with them.

I would tell the floor but I was playing with my fake ID and didn't want to call attention to myself. I'm officially old enough this Tuesday, March 7.

Nothing you can do about that, the dealers job is to keep the game moving so the house gets their rake. Under the very best circumstances, a poker table is only going to bring $100-150 an hour to the casino, and the casino isn't going to allow that rate to be cut into to allow more time for decisions. Part of the trade-off for the casino allowing floor space for poker, I'm afraid.

After he says "you should at least call"respond,"that's why you're dealing cards and not playing"
are you trying to imply that he is dealing cards because he sucks at poker?I'm not a dealer, but i'd have to say most dealers are good players.what would be even funnie is if he said "thats why i'm playing and you're dealing" than the dealer replies"Ya, but my tips made this shift are double your current stack"whammy, and then he knocks over his stack with the cards.
