antivirus programs for computer

This will probably be moving to off topic but thought I might get a few responses first. I just purchased a laptop and plan on using it for grad school, poker, and of course some internet porn. Anyone have some suggetstions on the best antivrus software I can load on. Somekind of spyware or something?? Any help would be nice.E

If you want a free one, try AVG. Otherwise, you could go with something like Norton Anti-Virus.

it's another internet browser to compete with microsoft's internet explorer. Everyone rave's about it having better security so I jumped on the bandwagon once exploring porn sites with explorer resulted in too many viruses and this freaking toolbar that I cant get rid of for the life of me.It's very easy to use, and utiltizes tabs which can make things a lot easier. It is free so just google it. I'm not sure if it's mozilla.com or what.

Read the program reviews on pcwold.com or pcmag.com they are normally good about software reviews.I don't like their hardware reviews much since if the product isn't advertized in the mag they don't review or rank it.

Yeah, I get $1.00 everytime someone does. I prefer Firefox greatly over Internet Explorer. There's a good pop up blocker, and it lets you know easily when a plug-in is needed, plus I think it just looks a whole lot nicer than IE.

Thanks for the suggestions. Grad school is a little different then college. I had my fair share while in college. I graduated in May of '04. I am now an engaged man so porn is my only escape. Now if I can just get the fiance to pleasure me while I look at porn and play cards I could accomplish a pretty nice triple play/

google or yahoo ad-aware , when you see the link for ad-aware SE personal from lavasoft.com go there and download it free, or go buy it in stores. Also mozilla firefox is great for popup protection

i thought any type of adware is bad. i am not good with comps though. however, i just love microsoft anti-spyware. much better than norton anti-virus. dont know the cost, as i got it free from a disk my mom had. i tried the mozilla thing, and i found that it sucks, at least for me. it (on numerous occasions) could not find the page, etc, especially when using my regular bookmarks. but, hey, if it works for u fine. also, it transferred a lot of things from IE to Mozilla, which i thought was nice, but learned that it wasnt.
