MattH 0
I'm just getting comfortable playing NL live and this is the only game going at our local casino's with several people playing in the game that do it for a living.I jump in for the 300 max buy in and build my stack to just over 900 with in 2 hours. Seat 6 is a solid player who I have just bullied, I beat him out of several pots and he kept commenting that he was going to bust me.He is UTG and I'm in seat 10. He bumps it to $25, a standard raise on his part plus he is a little steamed. UTG +1 calls, I get pocket 10's... I raise it to $55 to isolate and I truely think I have him dominated at this point.Everyone folds, UTG calls, UTG +1 calls.Flop hits K-10-5 all clubs.UTG checks, UTG +1 checks, I think for like 30 seconds and push $125. UTG now raises me all in... the $125 plus $630. UTG +1 folds and it is up to me. I'm basically putting my whole stack at risk. I studied for a minute or so and asked if he would save 300 and run it straight up... he wouldn't deal. I then asked if I mucked would he show... he agreed.I thought for another minute and finally folded, he flipped 9-8 clubs.I know I made the right lay down, but are there ways I could have played the hand differently.*side note, I ended up taking him for almost $200 more after that hand. Thanks for the inputMatt

darbour21 0
there was nothing else you could do.....found out what u needed to know with the bet.....good fold
essay 0
He raised to 25 then you raised to 55? I would re-reaise more because if he calls you dont know anything about his hand and 30 more into that pot is unlikely to isolate. Excellent fold though.essay
Arkanoid 0
I call this all in.Give the action, especially with a solid redraw to the winning hand.
CK1221 0
I would call, putting him on a draw.If he was steaming, he would certainly make this same play on a bluff. You're hand is good a lot of the time, and you have plenty of outs to take down a big pot. (unless he has KK, but unlikely). Also, you probably need to raise more preflop. He has odds to call with a wide range of hands here, and therefore you don't gain much information.
insano 0
Raise Raise Raise pre flop.It turned out to be an ok' call but still a weak one. I would have put him on something like AK with the A of clubs but thats just me I guess.
HurricaneKyle 0
Good laydown with the information that you had about this player. Don't throw this hand away every time though, you could miss some cash. Also props on busting him later, its easy to tilt after flopping and then mucking a set in a relatively big pot. That means you have good emotional control.
MattH 0
Thanks for the replies everyone... I held it together after that pretty well and was pleased with my over all play...The hand I busted him on later was classic, I called for 15 with 5 people in on the flop w/ 2-2 and flopped a set, he bet on the button 40 and I smooth called... everyone else dumped. turn blanked, I fired out 50 and he called... river was a blank and he said screw it I can't win... my reply "well sh*t, if you can't win I'll take that pot for 75!" He called and I flipped a set, he dropped an f bomb followed by nice hand.
TJ_Eckleburg 0
If you're asking if it was a good fold...DON'T TELL US HE HAD 9c8c!That's important. For what it's worth... if people ever tell you they'll show you if you fold, they almost always want you to fold. What does that tell you?
MattH 0
Good point... but I realized that and still thought for a while before folding.
iggymcfly 0
I have to say that's one thing I always give people too much credit on.I always think "he can't be stupid enough to think I'll fold just because I'm comforted to see his cards, he must actually want a call". I've been wrong on that one more than once.
DrZebra 0
It was close, but the fold was slightly incorrect. You have a 40% chance of hitting your 10-outter and he only has a runner runner redraw. If the pot-size is 945 it's even money but by what you said, the pot had to be about 1055. You should call even given the information that he has a small flush.
