Jenn 0
I have recently acquired a complete set of antique ivory poker chips. Three-hundred (300) of them in a walnut(?) carrier which fits inside a matching hinged box along with two decks of monogrammed cards. I've read that they stopped making these in 1875. All 300 are hand-etched. There are flowered ones, fives which have red stained rims, and twenty-fives which used to have either green or tan stained rims. After searching for hours on the internet, I have not come across even one *set* of antique ivory chips. I am interested in any offers from serious buyers.Small view of all: http://home.capecod.net/~jce/pokerchips/Iv...etSmallView.JPGLarge views of the set: http://home.capecod.net/~jce/pokerchips/IvorySet.JPGLarge views of the chips (random selection): http://home.capecod.net/~jce/pokerchips/Iv...omSelection.JPGCloseup of 3 fine chips: http://home.capecod.net/~jce/pokerchips/pokerchips.JPG

allinbluff35 0
that is what ebay is for.http://search.ebay.com/ivory-poker-chips_W...QfkrZ1QQfromZR8
theresa113 0
The chips are beautiful.I recommend you hold on to them, they seem really special to me.However, if you do sell them, you may want to make sure you can ship them since they are made of ivory. I know there are certain types of ivory, such as Walrus, which have strict rules moving from state to state.Personally, I would keep them. With the craze in poker, the value should keep going up. akishore 0
that is what ebay is for.http://search.ebay.com/ivory-poker-chips_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8 none of these are chip sets, they're only individual chips or 3 chips, etc. he's selling a full set, and i didn't find one when i just searched either (only for a few minutes though).aseem
allinbluff35 0
if you are strictly selling them for $ and you have no personal value for them. then you could easily make some money off of this set by selling them in sets of 1,3,5, or 10 that is why I put the link up. theresa113 0
Did you notice the individual price of some of these chips? I would say that your set is worth at least $3,000. Is the Antiques Road Show comming to your town soon?

Jenn 0
Thanks for your posts. Quite an active forum here! I have no sentimental attachment to the set and I do realize that I could split it up but, being an antique lover myself... I would really prefer to keep it together as a set and sell it to someone who will continue to keep it as a complete set. I have seen the completed auction results on Ebay and I've seen a few chips for sale (and sold) on some other sites. I have yet to find even one antique SET anywhere on the net and I've been at this now for a couple of days. I know there is substantial value in this being a complete set... all 300 chips. How often do these come around? Not to often I gather.

Dane 0
Man I would hang on to it, if you really have to sell them make sure you know what they are really worth, what be sick to see them on ebay for twice what you got for them.
Jenn 0
For anyone who's interested, I had a friend list the chips last night on Ebay for a 10 day auction. Here's a direct link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=6152572474
theresa113 0
Bid is up to $4,250.00. Looks like lots of activity so far. I can't wait to see the final price. This may be a good article for one of the poker magazines!
MrConceit 0
Wow, I am impressed. I did believe they were worth a lot - but having something worth a lot in theory isn't always the same as finding somebody willing to pay what they are worth. Not that perhaps 4k is what they are worth, but at least it's going up in bids pretty well so far.Good luck!
