Crocolyle 0
i'm also curious what a poker ambassador does. Does this mean you'll pretty much just play there exclusively, or are you like a partner in the development of the room and the games played there? I'm sure you'll still continue to play tournaments and games at other casinos as well occasionally.
DanielNegreanu 141
One thing I learned since dealing with the organization is that certain "trade secrets" aren't to be discussed until opening. There is much I'd like to share with you all but it's simply not in the best interest of Wynn Las Vegas at this point. All of your questions will be answered in good time... Pearl 0
Once the property opens up on April 28th I'll be playing cash games exclusively at the Wynn Resorts.dan, what level of cash games would that be? sorry for my naive question. whatever the level, i would definitely love to come and check the place out just so i can feel how dominated i would be by someone i respect a lot in poker. TeeDot 0
Daniel,If you are the Ambassador of the Wynn casino and beat the new players joining your table, that wouldn't be diplomatic, would it?
elkang 0
What a smart decision of Wynn. When in Vegas I like playing at Bellagio, but was definitely going to check out the Wynn. This gives added incentive.
padrote 0
Wait a minute... Isn't "The Matador" the ambassador of the Colorado in that BSPN show TILT? lolAnyway, congrats Daniel....padrote
RyanM 0
Congrats Daniel...although, what exactly DOES a Poker Ambassador do?Also: Does this mean you won't be playing in the big game any more? Or will the game move over to the Wynn?
elkang 0
Some more info from the Feb 16th Las Vegas Sun."PokerWynn Las Vegas will have a new high-tech waiting list in its 25-table poker room, Wynn Las Vegas President Marc Schorr said Monday.Instead of making poker players sign up on a paper list or a chalkboard, Wynn's list will be computerized. Players can sign up and wait in their rooms or in the casino for a page telling them their seat is open."Why should we have him standing there?," Schorr asked. The poker room will have a solid VIP section for big-money games.Canadian poker star Daniel Negreanu has been signed as the room's ambassador; he'll spend at least 200 days a year in the room, Schorr said.No tournaments are planned for the room's first year, but the property has already stockpiled tournament chips in case a tourney is offered, said Wynn Resorts Executive Vice President John Strzemp, a former runner up in the championship event of the World Series of Poker, who advises Wynn and Schorr on poker matters." mcpickie 0
this is a fantastic system and it is simply nonsense that all rooms larger than my living room don't have this.it works like the pagers they give you at popular restaurants like the cheesecake factory.it works along with the electronic queuing system they use at borgata, foxwoods, etc.they already have the system in place at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in South Florida.the only drawback of this system, and i'm sure it can be tweaked, is that at the seminole it won't let you get on the board for multiple games.HEY FOXWOODS POKER ROOM IDIOTS: GET THIS SYSTEM AND HAVE SOME ORGANIZATION AND ORDER IN YOUR MESSY CHAOS OF A POKER ROOMthat room used to be so great and now it't just an absolute messy jungle.it's so nice to play in california where they actually care about the player's business.FOXWOODS IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!but the action is so good..damn! Socrates 0
This place should be amazing (and expensive to stay / play at). I read that they spent $2 million on poker chips that contain RFID chips in them for tracking purposes, fraud and card counting etc...
Abbaddabba 0
How could you possibly have a chip property that detects card counting? Some sort of protocol and mini-cam that scans your retinas for that "counting look"?
Socrates 0
I'll try to find the article...at any rate, each chip will have it's own electronic serial number that is constantly moniotred by the system. Not exactly sure how it would work, that came from the VP of security or someone like that. I'll post the article later.
KDawgCometh 2
Daniel, in your role as ambassador does this mean that you will also be going to the Wynn resort in Hong Kong that they are planning or all wynn hotels, or just the one in Vagas?
faketree 0
How could you possibly have a chip property that detects card counting? Some sort of protocol and mini-cam that scans your retinas for that "counting look"?It is easy to tell if someone is counting cards by the types of bets they will make. With the new technology in the betting chips, the casinos will know exactly how much is being bet at any particular time, electronically. Not thru someone watching a video or a pit boss straring at someone for an hour. If someone's betting is suspicious and may go along the lines of betting a staked deck, the casino's will know immediately and make the proper adjustment.
mrnuts 0
damn 200 days a year, daniel must be making a nice chunk of change to be doing this. Also i think in time that most of the big players will make the transition from bellagio to the wynn just as they made the move from the mirage to bellagio. Vegas is all about the new casino's and since most of the whales will definitely be checking out the wynn as long as it offers more than bellagio they will make the wynn their usual place of stay. Thus all the tourists with money to blow(fish) will want to stay at the best which from the sounds of it is going to be the wynn. So i think it will only be a matter of months before most of the big time pros move to the wynn.
snowbird 0
Okay, call me an idiot, but I just don't understand this. I understand Wynn building a new casino, but why try to compete with the Bellagio for big game players. Isn't this like Phil Knight starting a new shoe company that competes with Nike to sell shoes? Anyways, I'm sure it will be an absolutely unbelievable place to stay and play poker. I can't wait.

Rik 0
Daniel - if your still following this thread I noticed that you had committed to playing cash games exclusively at Wynn. I was just wondering if you had any assurances that games of your desired limit will be available. Has the big game talked it over and decided to move over there? I am sure the Bellagio wouldn't be thrilled to lose its poker room's main attraction.
