i play heads up on stars a lot and a lot of times you get these guys who act like they are the bastard child of doyle brunson and phil helmuth - they berate your play - amazingly and mostly as they lose to youhere's an example - i have pocket twos and the flop is 424 i check he bets 120 i callturn puts a flush on the boardi check he bets 120 i calli check the river he checks and then seeing my hand he says "moron this isn't rounders" implying well i don't know what? betting the river seems a waste to me since i figure if he won't bet it he won't call eitherhe seems offended that i've been trapping him but what the hell am i supposed to be doing with this handwhy are so many online poker players jerks?

implying well i don't know what? betting the river seems a waste to me since i figure if he won't bet it he won't call eitherYou should probbaly bet it, actually. If he folds, he folds. He's probably fairly likely to call a value bet there though. He's annoyed you never raised him and just let him bet into you and feels silly for betting at a made hand.Next time, bet out for sure on the river. You didn't say what he was betting, if anything, but a bet of 75 should be automatic there. He almost is forced to call or raise it.

I think it's lack of accountability. You don't have top back up what you say online.I've seen alot of people get upset at bad beats in b&m games, but I've only seen the online tirads twice. One time the guy on the receiving end offered to continue the conversation outside. Which was declined.I guess he forgot that he wasn't online and had to back up his words. It was pretty cool because the other guy was being an ass and didn't peep a word the rest of the night. :D Erik

The only time I talk smack online is when someone makes a really stupid play and gets way lucky with it. For instance if someone stands a 3X blind raise pre-flop w/ a hand like 10 2 (because he thinks it's cool) and then makes a full house on the river to best my set of Kings that I've been pushing the whole time I'm likely to call the guy an idiot, but that's just me...

This seems to be the case with a lot of online players they all think they are the best when it comes to poker. However, I find that the more the player talks the worse a poker player they are. Any really good poker player should know not to teach there opponents to play while they are playing against them unless they were friends maybe. I guess we could exclude Hellmuth Jr. from that list but his teachings only occur when he is tilting and he lose all self control. I usually just play while blocking the chat of all players then I dont have to worry about this type of table talk. I definitely agree with the above post about not having any accoutability on-line. Just put this player on your friends list, search for him anytime your looking for a game, block all chat, and proceed to take all of his chips.

yesterday I had 2 people berating my play when I pushed all-in to steal the blinds + 1 limper. i could have achieved the same folds if i bet 3-4xBB. but i was small stack and wanted the image of the loose player. the image i put out worked when i crippled them with my pocket KK with a K on the board. i went on to win the tourney. then i had my chance to berate their game. it was only a $5 ST SnG, the way there were talking, you would have thought it was a $200 game.

hehe i was thinking of posting this anyway, and this topic seems pretty close! there is a regular at the game i ussually play at that is ALWAYS knocking the way you play. Last night they started with a RAZZ tourney (i hadn't shown up yet) after that we had a limit HE tourney. I was dealt red pocket 10's. i jammed the pot pre flop. flop came up all black 2 to the spade flush. i checked (was out of postion) the other person in the pot checked as well... (in retrospect i should have made them pay for the flush) in the end i checked all the way to the river because the turn and river were both spades. so i didn;t feel i could justify a raise with the board. The person who i had mentioned earlier flamed me pretty hard for not raising the flop to see where i was. i can understand that he was right, but what i didn't understand was telling me i should have raised all the way to the river. i mean any spade beat me. anyway later that night same situation except he was telling anouther player (who had the pocket 10's) they were stupid for raising on hte turn and river! anyway... seemed of topic :) on a side note, later that night we switched to NLHE and i went for a blind steal 1 off the button (had 7 2o) flop came q 7 2, so i raised knowing i wouldn't be put of 7 2 :D turn came up 7 :) so i went all in since i wasn't raised on the flop... i got called and flipped my hand and said guy went BOLISTIC about my hand!!! lucky for me i was able to get a TON of action from him for the rest of hte night

I ran into this real big jerk the other day on a 2 table MTT on Stars. Well, more of an idiot than a jerk. He kept berating EVERYONE about their play. Just really classless and ignorant. As the tournament kept going on, everyone was playing really tight trying to make it into the money. I was stealing a lot of blinds and playing aggressive, but a lot of the plays I made with actual hands that I wouldn't mind if they played back at. I made only maybe 2 steals with nothing. This guy kept going "STEAL!!!!" "BLUFF!!!" So I said "well if you're so sure, why did you fold?" So the next time, I raised his blinds with AA, he pushed all in.Oh sweet justice!

How can someone with a 10-2 get a full house to beat your set of kings? For him to get a full house, the board would have to be paired, presumably with 10s or 2s... That would make your set into a bigger full house.

I was playing a tourney at the Imperial Palace in Vegas in November when the 1/2 NL table behind us erupted in shouts and yelling... we looked over just in time to see one guy come over the table at another player.I wish I had the details as to what precipitated it, but it was at least as entertaining as 'pro' wrestling, and a whole lot more realistic.Guess that's one advantage of smacktalking someone online. :D

Anyone ever notice many bad beat stories posted on these forums are very similar to the stories in this thread? It all depends on what perpective you are coming from. It is easy to rationalize almost any play, no matter how bad it actaully is.I'm waiting for the day when the two players from a heads up battle both post at the same time about how the other was a terrible.
