Hope some of you get a laugh out of this although i guess a quality poker player might hate me - I'm not really proud but happy with my incredible luckI went to trumps in indiana and played no limit live for the first time ever. I usually play sit and gos or heads up.I started out bad and dropped 500 against my prior vow i got 300 more and put 200 on the table it was 2 5 with a 200 max buy in and you can always put more money to keep your stack upI build back to about 500 and my ride is about to leave when i get aces under the gunI didn't want to bet to much and win just 7 bucks so i raised to 15 hoping someone would raiseOf course i get 5 callers and i know i'm deadFlop comes Q K 5 with 2 hearts ughi bet out 100 the guy next to me callsand a girl whose been playing pretty tight raises to 300 ugh i know i'm beat I'm pretty sure she has two pair maybe a flush drawbut a guy had been coming over me huge and i'd been foldind and i couldn't surrender my bullets - like a moron i call because i didn't think i had much more than 200 when i realized i still had about 250 left i wanted to go all in to scare her but i'd already calledthe guy next to me has 60 left and callsugh i know i'm beatturn is the jack of heartslike a moron i'm hoping she now has two pair and will be scared by the flush card - i push in my 250 she calls quickly - i know i'm deadriver is the ten of clubs My straight wins the hand although i split with the guy next to me who had AKMan she was livid - hell i can't really even blame herI said I'm sorry - which of course elicits the "No you're not don't even say you are" i say well i'm glad i won but I'm sorry i played like such a jackass and sucked out on youshe's still amazingly enraged and repeats the "don't even say that" so i said ok I take it back i'm ecstatici wind up with like a grand this other guy is berating my stupidity I try to explain i thought she had two pair - ok i hoped she did and would fold to the flush cardany way - i admit I couldnt have played those aces any worseif the guy with the AK would have raised i would have put him all in and spared everyone the anguish but I guess the money is better than the prideI made the ultimate no limit error I couldn't lay down my bullets and i got luckyI was surprised I made it out of the casino alive - she was berating the guy that ran the card room Funny this is though - i've constantly noticed that if theres any hand i consistantly get hammered for big money with it's flopping two pair with consecutive cardsbiggest pot of my life by oh about 800 dollars

First of all... Lucky you. But I would much rather hear your story than hers. Also.. I have played at Trump over there a couple times... never the NL table though. Some of the players are kinda jerk-offs though, so don't worry too much about the berating, at least you showed them aces, lol. Side question: Are most casino games full of jerks? Or is it just the Gary, Indiana atmosphere. (Trashy/Ghetto)

I play at the Trump alot and I've found that the majority of them are assholes. I hate playing 3/6 there because people tend to get mad at each other and just start playing stupid to spite each other.Never played NL there though. The Trump is a ridicoulsly SOFT seat and I think a very nice room. The people who play there are jerkoff's though.

Glad to hear some of you Chicagoans talking about the local game. I've yet to make the trip down to lovely Gary, IN (the bunghole of the US) to play. but yeah, i've heard there are tons of wankers and shady cats at the tables.for those of you who've played down there, which would you recommend (Trump or Harrah's)?which has easier games? think i might make the trip down next thursday with some buddies from work.

Wow, i didnt realize there are so many chicagoans here. incredible. but honestly, Trumps and Gary has to be the loudest, most yellow place ever. Do you guys mean majestic, which is also owned by trump (?). cause that cardroom is ok. But harrahs is definately the nicest place to play in the homocide capital of the world to play. Top deck of boat, and can walk out and get that fresh northern indiana air that we in chicago only get to enjoy when the wind is blowing in from the southeast. No better way to get over a bad beat than by suffocating on fumes and affecting the mental aptitude of your genetic line three generations down from you.

Well.. good to hear that i've gone to the wrong place. And yes, we mean majestic, but they're 2 different casino's.... you can go into either one... and the cardroom is at trump. But yeah, people there are something... I'll give Harrah's a shot next time. What limits over there?

I have a friend that went down to harrah's about three weeks ago and he said it was alright and i also had a friend that went to the trump one and he said it sucked but i personally have not been to either and i do not know if i want to considering it is located in the worst town in America.

I had the same thoughts.. but just map it out ahead of time. If you exit to the trump one, make sure you turn right into the harbor, cause the first time I went left, and let me tell you... ghetoooooo! I was just hoping I hit all the lights after I turned around... but once you're on the property it's fine.

I've played a few times at each. The Trump is kind of a shit hole, but I've only played 3 6 and a tournament there. Harrah's is much nicer, but the games seem higher. The last time I was there I had to play 5 10 (which was the lowest they had at the time). I've not played the NL table at Trump, but it seems worth a shot... Anyone ever play the Thursday tourny at Harrahs. I haven't yet, but it seems better than the shitty Wednesday tourney at the Trump.
