shady poker sites - pokerroom.com

Recommended Posts

I've spent lots of time on Pokerstars, PartyPoker, Fulltilt, UltimateBet, and those sites all seem to be legitamite.BUT, has anyone spent time on PokerRoom.com? Oh my goodness, this is one shady site. First - when you look to see your progress on clearing their bonus it is not updated real-time like every other sites. It's updated randomly. So you'll be playing a couple tables and for 5 minutes you won't see any increase toward your goal. Then you check again 10 minutes later and it has moved a little bit... It's random.Secondly, I've suffered many a bad beats on all sites. But over the course of 12 hours I think I saw an exorbant amount of amazingly incredible runner-runners, etc... Or some collusion among some players. In any event, I highly recommend staying away from this site. Any other people have opinions about PokerRoom.com or other sites?

I play regularly on this site. There are some brutal beats, as on many other sites, but it seems to be particularly high on this one.One caution about pokerroom.com tournaments. Ive actually studied over 50 tournaments (Single Table) and in over 42 situations, especially late in the tournament, if someone goes all in and gets called by someone not all in, the person that is all in lost (those 42 times) Coincidence? Maybe....I dont know how many times Id have QQ and get called with 10 10 and guy flops trips.....Im not saying to believe me, just go watch for yourself. On the other hand, you can feel more confident if you put someone all in and have chips left yourself.

Do you work for Pokerroom.com?Maybe we're paranoid. But as I have said, I've spent many hours on tons of other sites and have suffered plenty of incredible bad beats. It's just that on Pokerroom.com they come one after another. I also don't trust their bonus clearing tracking system.

Ive made more money on pokerroom than any other on-line site except for party. It is so soft. Of course you get bad beats, but give yourself time and you will definetly be a winner. The bonuses are pretty hard to clear though.

They say that it takes up to an hour to update the player points. Its right in the FAQ. I find their bonus very hard to clear unless you are playing mid-high stakes. The only issue I have with that site is disconnects. It seems like I get bumped off every ten or fifteen minutes. I usually get frustrated after the second or third time and have to leave.

You know the real way to beat pokerroom. Just go in with the worst hand every time. Since they give bad beats all the time, it should be a profitable way to play

Sounds like a problem on your end. I've never been disconnected from PokerRoom and most people that talk about it don't have that problem. :?

It could be, I wouldn't doubt it. Do you use the download version or the java version? I'm using the java version.

Stop playing online poker immediately.PokerRoom is fine (and actually easier at 1/2 than Party).

I use the download version - so that could be the reason. Though, I never had any problems with the java version in the short time I used it.

PokerRoom is not shady and neither is any other major online poker site, instead of making excuses for losing money just admit your game needs work.

The more bad beats you suffer, the more often someone else has gone against you with a worse hand, and thus the worse the players are. I notice that the sites I win the most at are the ones I take the most bad beats at. Just gotta take the bad beats along with the rest of their money.

All the so-called "winning" online-players say that there's no cheating in online-poker and that it's perfectly safe. How do we know that you're not the ones cheating and you're just leading the lambs to the slaughter? Hah! And for someone to say that those who think there is cheating are paranoid? Well, in an industry that is completely new and unregulated, I believe we are more cautious than paranoid. There is no proof whatsoever that this unregulated industry is true and fair.

then go play in a casino and home game if you don't think it's fair. Pay the higher rake, deal with slow dealers, tip the crappy dealers and I'll just sit back and enjoy 200+ hands/hr and playing against people who think there is something wrong with online sites because they can't win online. But hey you've been winning for years at a casino without extensive records. Look at your game, if you can't win online you have MAJOR LEAKS.

Pokerroom is fine, how else can you play at work if you have no download permissions? On a side note, do any other decent firms offer a java alternative? I get easily bored playing the same site and it's always good working off a bonus at a new place.

I am in no way agreeing with any tinfoil hat online conspiracy theorists. I will though completely agree with the tournament small stack with big % to win preflop going all in and then losing to some bs runner runner.I don't have access to PR anymore because I disabled my account due to some of the horrid beats I took on there. I really couldn't deal with it anymore and again I am not some bad player who can't normally take down a game, but that site just rubbed me the wrong way after awhile.

Why is it that although I play higher limits in casinos, that I see more bad beats online than I do in normal play? I think in my case, I'm more likely to call bets feeling as if I have the best hand, in which case, I do have strong hands, perhaps if I was in a casino, I might be able to weed out some people on certain hands by seeing thei reactions, the way they bet, the time it takes them to think of how much to bet, the way they look at the cards as they come out.. etc.As weird as it seems, I've been more profitable playing higher limits in Atlantic City that I have playing vs people on Pokerstars for lower limits. I don't get it sometimes.

1. You see a lot more hands online.2. The quality of opposition is probably higher online.
