6.75 90 Man Knock-out Stt

Recommended Posts

I've played a couple of these knock-out type STTs on pokerstars. So that everyone is clear: for every person you knock out, you get a 1.25$ bonus. What's the most optimal strategy according to you guys?Mine is to get a chip lead over the table very soon, so that when there's a big hand you can bust him and receive the bonus.thoughts? advice?

Your approach shouldn't be much different than a normal 90-man sng I would think. It being a KO tourney means donks are going to be calling wider and playing looser trying to get bounties so you should exploit that. I don't think my "strategy" would change much from a regular 90-man which is tight early then steal blinds late and then win some flips and 60/40's late. I'm no expert though so you may want to wait for some more opinions!

No offense, but that is the absolute worst approach to take in that structure. For over a year I played almost nothing but 90 person turbo ko tourneys on FullTilt (it's one of the sweetest money makers online). It took about a week or so to figure out that chasing bounties and trying to double up quickly was what the majority of these players do, and it makes for some awful play. You will not win playing that way as almost everyone takes that tactic and that is precisely what makes them easy. Simply pick your spots and play your small pairs and suited connectors (and see the flops as cheaply as possible) as these are the hands that will get paid off when you hit. Everyone will be playing Ax early and calling with a very wide range of hands. Play tight and only get involved in the hands that you know will get you paid off. Sets and flushes will get paid off regularly by middle and top pairs because guys will not fold, period. Usually I would simply fold hands and do some limping with my hands that had potential and wait. Before long a guy would decide to put all his chips in w/A7 on a board of J 7 4 and I would double up with a set of 4s. Sets and flushes is where both the bounties and the double ups are. You don't have to take my word either. After figuring all of this out on my own, an article was posted on FTs "Tips from the Pros" that basically says the same thing. It was written more than a year or two ago but it is still out there if you care to look it up.

well put. get bounties when stacks are flying in in late levels and M's are very small. you need way too many KO's to make up for your buyin, so going extra thin to try to get KO's is retarded. BTW, just play the 180 person ones bc variance is going to be a bitch in these things anyways, may as well have some run good in a tourney that winning will be a decent ROI to make up for all the bubbling.
