easier to tilt on-line?

Recommended Posts

I am finding I do much better in casino games than on-line. The advantage of observing my opponents behavior and using my presentation as a tool helps in "real" games. But the principal reason I don't play as well on-line is I am more likely to go on tilt or start steaming in the privacy of my home than in a room full of people. I believe this is combination of the frustrations that arise when playing a higher percentage of on-line maniacs with the fact that I am more likely to act out my negative emotions in private, which then leads to poor play based on those emotions. In other words, maybe one is less likely to play like an idiot when one is not behaving like an idiot. I'm the same as you. I'm much more stable in live games than I am online. But I've gotten better at playing online. Reading some of Mike Caro's psychological articles helped me a lot (such as, "Nobody cares about your bad beats.").

Are these articles online anywhere?

I definitely think I'm more likely to tilt online because, as much as bad beats happen in real life, its frustrating to see a fish get you on a bad beatToo foten I find the stupid players are getting paid off calling their bad hands, and more than once I've tilted at the weaker players

The problem with online poker and tilting is that you can possibly be playing 4 tables at once when you tilt multiplying the problem. Also, if you are on tilt in a casino it takes more time to get involved in another game then a simple click of the mouse. You may have a 10 minute break and be able to get a drink, talk on the cell, etc. before playing.

Agreed, a lot easier to tilt online, or when you do tilt a lot more damage can be done. The hands come faster so you have less time to cool off. And like somebody else said, if you are multi-tabling then it could be even worse.

I definetly tilt more online. When I'm at home I can yell, cuss, throw chips, punch a wall... whatever, and no one knows. At the casino I don't want to look like a dick so I keep myself under control and don't tilt as easily. At home, I don't control myself as much

The greatest thing about it though is that if you can control your emotions, you have a huge advantage over the people who do go on tiltI also tend to see a lot of ego get into online games. It's entertaining to watch two people who keep raising eachother hand after hand, as if they have something to prove.

Your right it is far easier to go on tilt on the net but thats mainly cause of the opposition u play against. Im a regular on expekt poker site ( full of swedish wannabies) and the amount of players that will call an all in chasing a gut straight is unreal! These guys dont have a clue how to play poker and be some weird factor they profit from it! I blame Gus Hanson!
