Zach6668 513
Robert P. @RobertJFTC 1m Edmonton holds AK. Opponent goes all in and accidentally flips over KK. Edmonton calls.
serge 904
What are the Oilers thinking? Is there a trade coming for Dubey? They want to increase ratings for their reality show? Do they actually think Bryzgalov is an improvement on their goalie situation? 4 goalies under contract. 3 of them are one way NHL contracts. None of them signed passed this year. Don't think goaltending is the problem.
Fenxis 99
What are the Oilers thinking? Craig MacTavish has Stanley Cup rings so he knows about #winning :| Don't think goaltending is the problem. Well the team save % hasn't been all that great but I haven't watched any games to know how much Edmonton has played short-handed / quality of shots / etc / etc...
digitalmonkey 929
Smid? Has he been that bad this season, Dubey? The defense as a whole has been awful hasn't it?
Dubey 1,035
Smid's been ok. Not a Mactavish signing. Mactavish probably viewed him as replaceable from within the organization, so to get a player back and clear 3.5x3 in salary is a bonus. I actually tend to agree with him, even though I liked Smid. Don't think goaltending is the problem. goaltending hasn't been great, either for Dev or Labarbara, but it's not nearly as bad as the numbers indicate, as the Oilers are playing a defensive style that limits number of shots on net but results in several point blank opportunities against per game, and they are going in, predictably. Eakins is going to have to realize that he doesn't have the personnel to execute the system he is trying to implement, or it won't matter who is in net the rest of the way. It's definitely short sighted for Mactavish to think goaltending is the reason they are losing games, because it's not. Bryzgalov is going to get absolutely torched if he sees any significant playing time.

They bring in a guy who didn't make an ECHL team
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I dont know.....I dont think Bryzgalov is all that bad, and I dont think he was trying to make an ECHL team, so thats not really any indication of anything. Personally, I have a soft spot for him because I think him being open+honest has hurt him, and all he was open+honest about was his beliefs and thoughts, none of which were wrong/hurtful to anyone. They were just honest, deep and thoughtful. God forbid! Sorry Dave, I know this could be bad for your brother, but I was always hoping to see Bryz get another shot somewhere and hopefully succeed. I hope your brother gets traded to NYI, and becomes the #1 goalie that takes them to the Cup.
serge 904
Arp I like bryzgalov too. Greatest interview ever. I think Dubey might be good fit for the flames. UFA signing in July. Screw the Oilers
Fenxis 99
Unfortunately given Bryzgalov's up and down performance not sure how that will reflect on the other 'tenders: if he stands on his head then they look like crap, if he stinks then people can point to history and not give the other two their due. However given that the Oilers just traded away a defensive d-man you'd have to think their season is going to get worse.

serge 904
Cam Charron @camcharron33m Nail Yakupov has 19 goals in his first 65 NHL games. Steven Stamkos had
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Simmonds, Coutourier, Coburn for Yakupov That should do it. PS- If Im Edm, I would probably still not do it.
serge 904
Simmonds, Coutourier, Coburn for Yakupov That should do it. Please yes.. Great trade for the Mustangs as they be traded for each other. The Media in Edmonton is loving this...Nothing like a player saying they wouldnt mind a trade to any team..Translation " I hate the situation here, trade me"...Then we are about a week away from the great Bryz and his amazing comments . serge 904
Its looking like they shouldnt have drafted Yakupov, in such a defensmen heavy first round , especially since they need defense.. But i guess they had to take the best player available.

serge 904
Will the gong show that is Bryzgalov get the start tonight? If he does, added value in the game is that Bobrovsky is in town and should start for the Jackets

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Since Bryzgalov joined the team, they are unbeaten and have outscored the opposition 11-1. Ya, he hasn't played yet, but its obvious Ilya's presence in the room has made a world of difference.
