Computer Problems

Recommended Posts

ok here is my prob, instead to pay for music i download i use limewire for all my music. I downloaded a whole load of songs earlier and from this i have gathered a virus. Now when i go into itunes and try to transfer music onto my ipod, or when i now open limewire, my computer goes to a blue screen and says its performing a mini dump???? I have no idea what this is and and useful with computer related problems! I have an anti virus programme which detects trojans which i guess are picked up from the music i downloaded. The questions i am asking are... Does anyone know anything about this and how to solve it? If i were to just delete the infected files i downloaded does this solve the whole problem or is it much deeper now?Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated and anything you think may help or can reccommend i thank you in advance for!

I must be getting soft in my old age. Most of the time I would tell you you're screwed and deservedly so for using limewire. But, I'm feeling compassionate tonight so I'll give you some tips:Deleting the infected file won't fix the problem 99% of the time. Most modern viruses replicate themselves, infect the registry, or install other executables. Download and run Malwarebytes Write down the names of the problems it finds before you have it fix them. Then do an internet search for the virus names because you may also have to install and run a rootkit or other anti-virus program depending on the type of virus you have. You're going to have to do some research here and I'll warn you now, it's most likely not going to be a quick fix so prepare yourself for a few hours of work.Stop using limewire. And pm DNA.

typically warranties cover hardware issues like a bad drive or something. this is not. you may want to call the place you bought it and see if they do virus removal but it'll probably cost ya. also, make sure you remove any nudes of yourself or your girlfriend etc before you take it in.Go here and download this program: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti....html?tag=mncolInstall, update and do a full scan. the scan may take an hour or more. Then you can view the problems detected before fixing them. Also, post the results here and maybe I can help out with the research and removal.

So I have a similar problem.I don't have a girlfriend right now, and I need to watch online porn videos. I just have to. Are there any sites that are free (no subscription) that will for sure not give my computer a virus? I've been looking at redtube, but all of a sudden the videos play slow because I think it gave my computer the swine flu.

OK first of all, this sentence sounds really funny if you say it in your head with a thick eastern european accent. I haven't used windows in a few years, but when I did I always ran those spyware removal programs in safe-mode. Things that wouldn't get removed if you ran it normally would get taken care of if you just booted into safe-mode and then run the remover program.

With myfreepaysite I recommend setting up/using a junk email that you don't use frequently because you will get some spam.

right i got a question about this, can you reformat like back 2days or so? or is it like a brand new computer once formatted? ie, lose EVERYTHING
The only way you can go back to a couple days ago or whatever is if you have a restore point saved. Odds are, you don't. If you reformat you're wiping out the drive and you will lose everything you've added since you got it. You will also need the operating system disks to re-install windows, which most places don't give you anymore.

pkay so i ran the scan, and it came up with one virus. unfortunatley someone was helping me and before i could get a screenshot or write down the full name he went to quarantine and deleted it. SIGH. I remember tho it was called zango something... I re-scanned after and it didnt come up again. Since this I've also installed ccleaner and cleaned my registry etc. yet i still encounter the blue screen of death when i try to sync my ipod, or open limewire. .. . .

Do you mean Vundo.h? That's a bad one that's been going around and none of the normal virus checkers seem to catch it. So far, Malwarebytes is the only one I know of that can deal with it, which I just find amazing. (I guess a couple computers didn't get infected, but I don't know if ESOD caught it or the computer was never exposed to it.) It never made me go to blue screen or anything, just whenever I'd visit any website it would direct me to some advertising site.

i dont actually beleive this. lol. i figured that as it was only recently that it would BSOD me when syncing ipod, or opening limewire it must be with the recently downloaded music. so i deleted these. after having virus checked them all ( and told they were fine ) and now ipod syncing works, and so does limewire. LOL

Zango is from watching tv shows on some of those websites and the little zango popup comes up that you have to close in order to see the show. It's more of a nuisance than destructive.

Interesting. My dad was getting the blue screen of death a couple months ago. Turns out one of his drivers was corrupted and everything worked fine after updating. If it happens again you may just want to update your Ipod drivers. Glad it wasn't anything too nasty. Oh, and stop using limewire.

Completely Safe!I mean it's not like the FBI is gonna knock down your door or anything! LOL, THAT WOULD BE ABSURD! I mean, you are just doing a few for yourself right? Not like you are selling them or anything or doing MASSIVE quantities. You'll be fine, oh, and so will your PC.

Private torrent communities are generally pretty safe.Don't be a dipshit like the guy above me and join in a group of world wide distributors and the FBI won't be kicking in the door and waving the 44.
