I just picked up this set on ebay. They're not the best... still composite, but a little better than the normal suited or dice sets you see everywhere. I've held both in my hand and these have a little less slippery feel than the others you see so much. And the price was right... It's only a set of 300... but I don't need a ton yet.... and if I do... for 23 bucks, I can get another set. Here's a link to em...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWN:IT

I personally have a set of the run of the mill 11.5g composite chip (set of 500). I bought them about 6 months ago on ebay, for $40, plus $35 shipping. (High shipping cost, I know). The # of chips you will need is dependent on the # of players in your game, and the structure of your game. If I'm playing at a 5 person table, we usually just give each player 100 chips. The set has 50 black chips, 100 green, 150 white, and 200 red. The players I play with aren't that advanced, so we don't use denominations. (We just play tournament style and bet with # of chips....kind of amateurish, I know). The set comes in an aluminum case with 5 dice and 2 decks of cards. It's a pretty decent starter set, and you can find a million different variations on www.ebay.com

I have a custom clay set from www.pokerchips.com (atlantic standard molding) and I love them. I got to pick the chip and spot colors and the center design. Very pricey though, 0.95 each. But I also run a card room and wanted only the best stuff. I can't attract serious players with the wal mart special. I am also about to order a custom chipco (ceramic) set from www.homepokerchips.com They are about the same price as the clay, but a lot of casinos are switching to this style of chips because of their durability. Another place that has nice chip sets is www.buypokerchips.com Most of these places have samples for a couple bucks. But, any of the plastic sets on ebay are perfect for most home games. But if you want to move it up a notch, check out one of the 3 I mentioned.Justin

Doing some quick online & Ebay searches, I got a 650 11.5 "dice" set off Ebay from US Poker for $65 shipped. Seemed like the best deal if you are not looking for the most primo chip. Spinetti's on Ebay looks real good too. Both companies have standard websites to buy from too. I get my set shipped tonite, so I will let you know how they came in.Thanks for everyone's help.

Go to www.fivestardeal.com they have a wide variety of chip sets at very reasonable prices. I have been very happy with mine, plus you can customize the colors of the chips that are in your set. This shipping is normal as well and they have a great website. My friend and I are very happy with what we got. Peace out!

Since when do you need poker chips to play poker? Just do it like they did back in the day of the Cincinnati Kid and "The Man". A stack of fives, a stack of tens, a stack of twenties, a stack of fifties, and a stack of one-hundreds. Bills seemed to work just fine for them. :-)

I dont think those are Paulson's. They are from BuyPokerChips.com and I think Chipco makes them. But not sure.
