They don't see the hole cards live do they? I thought they are recorded and all the commentating is added after the tournament is played.

They're there talking about it live. Though they can see the betting, they're quiet because they're close enough to possibly influence the action. Their knowledge of the hole cards is added in later.The next time you catch the current season on GSN or one of the older seasons on the Travel Channel, listen more closely. Mike and Vince have two different volume levels.

Not 100% accurate. The individual properties will have their own rules to allow players (21 years of age, 19 years of age, not self-trespassed, banned, etc.), the WPT has ZERO control over who enters and plays the tournament. If a player chooses to NOT sign the WPT's release, the TD can still allow that player to buyin and play. However, as the property and the WPT have a business relationship, this is as likely to happen as me winning a WPT event.

Why weren't the individual casinos added to the WPT lawsuit by the ungrateful 7 ? Or were they and I'm just not aware of it (a distinct possibility !) ? It seems to me that if the WPT only had "influence" over the decision, the casinos would have been named as the primary defendents as they legally controlled who could enter the tourneys. For the record.......You sound like you know what you are talking about. I'm not challenging you saying "I know that you are wrong". I'm saying I always assumed that the WPT ran the tourneys and now I'm not sure about the whole lawsuit question.

Because the lawsuit was centred around the use of the players images to promote the WPT. And, just to further clarify, Vince and Mike don't know the hole cards until sometimes weeks after the event when they do post-production. The hole cards cams don't run into the normal tv production centre, they are sent separately to a secure room known as 'the bunker'. In that room, a couple of techs monitor the feed. If they miss a player's hole cards, they simply notify the director that they missed 'player 3's' cards or whatever, and they will be discretely asked to show their cards to the camera again. Nobody has ANY idea what the hole cards are until the tournament is over..

Yes, I know what the lawsuit was about. The players did not want to sign the release. They said that because they did not want to sign the release, they were denied entry into the events. It seems like it would have been mentioned if they were denied entry into a Bellagio event because there was a stipulation that they had to sign a WPT release. It seems to me that they could have sued each hotel. Why sue the WPT if they weren't the ones denying them entry to the event ?
