yeah just finished it last weeki personally didnt care about the murder but it was obviouley part of the storyit was a good book but not amazingi suggest u read it if u havent

The book probably has better "true crime" appeal than pure poker appeal like Holden's "Big Deal" or similar. I really liked this book a lot. At the beginning, I was distracted by the Binion murder topic -- I wanted a poker book. But soon I was riveted and became completely engrossed in the book. A nice read. You can buy hardcover copies on via Amazon Used sellers pretty cheap, too.

Let me echo what has been said. BEST book I have read in quite some time. Poker or not. It is very well written and I couldn't put it down. I was sad at the end, just like Daniel, but my sadness was because it was the end...and I wanted more. Highly recommended.

I picked up a copy of this book before going on vacation in 2004 (pre Moneymaker) and was blown AWAY by McManus' sheer writing ability. Thus began my love affair with Hold 'em tournaments and all things poker which continues to this day. His new book,"Cowboys Full-The Story of Poker" is a must read also for anyone interested in the lore and traditions of this great game.
