  1. I picked up a copy of this book before going on vacation in 2004 (pre Moneymaker) and was blown AWAY by McManus' sheer writing ability. Thus began my love affair with Hold 'em tournaments and all things poker which continues to this day. His new book,"Cowboys Full-The Story of Poker" is a must read also for anyone interested in the lore and traditions of this great game.
  2. This book is what piqued my current obsession with NLHE. I picked up a copy and devoured it while on vacation a couple of years ago and life hasn't been quite the same since...very well written & an incredible story to boot!

  4. the 1st. volume is super, & vol. 2 should be a "must Read" also...as far as for advanced players? any new point of view is good, i think...

I'm like you, sick & tired of playing "no fold 'em" at low limits, consequently, i've been playin' a lot of sit 'n go's myself. i've found that basic, tight aggressive works in the beginning rounds. fold marginal hands when in poor position, try to see the flop cheap otherwise...one interesting thing i've found at low buy-in s&g's is that a lot of people don't know the bet SIZES...if the BB is $25 they raise $25...i make one of $100 or so...i guess what i'm tryin' to say is when you think you have the best hand, bet the hell out of it!! i run into a lot of "calling stations" the way i
