First Hand At Ft Of 18 Man $10 Sng

Villain was not at my shorthanded table, so I have no read on him. He flat calls PF for 1/3 or his stack, so he's pretty much committed himself already.Flop gives me the gutshot and two overs....minus the flush outs that might not be clean. Is there a wrong way to play this?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)CO (t4255)Button (t535)SB (t3050)BB (t4038)Hero (t5175)UTG+1 (t3600)MP1 (t2332)MP2 (t1565)MP3 (t2450)Preflop: Hero is UTG with Qspade.gif, Aheart.gif. I'd probably shove here as well. As played, I call here as well. He could be shoving with anything, although some of those outs your counting (Q's and A's) might not be clean since he might have a pair with an A or Q kicker. It balances out though with the likelyhood this is complete air.

Shove the flop.... check calling is horrible, give yourself a chance to win the pot without showdown. maybe he folds out a few underpairs thinking u have AK
Why would he fold an underpair if he thought we had AK?

He had A6o and I took the pot down.I would normally cBet this flop...which in this case would have been shoving. I decided to check this time to induce a bluff since I really felt I was ahead.Do we get more value by checking here when we feel we are ahead?

Do we get more value by checking here
I don't think it makes much difference either way
The times he folds a better hand (low pairs, maybe AT/etc) are probably fairly balanced by the times he bluffs a worse hand.

In fixed limit mixed games, absolutely. You preaching to a brick wall in a NLHE forum, though. I've made the same point in here and been crucified. As an added bonus, I actually got some of the actual high rollin' ballers in here to shoot down the check-call for value concept. So I'm pretty certain that the C/C line of thinking should be saved for the earlier stages of deep-stacked tourneys, and not employed when your tourney life is indeed in jeopardy.
