So I was adamant the other day that all you really need to do to kill this game was play solid ABC poker and let the money flow to you... and then I got crazy and landed myself in the following situation:HERO has $800 in CO with 86o. UTG+1 calls, folds to Hero who raises to $40 (you know... because... I literally hadn't opened a pot in an hour, I think I was bored and playing off a tight image. Still, the one guy who really worried me had recently left the table, and I felt like I could outplay most of the people left after the flop.)UTG+1 (covers) calls. SB (covers) calls. BB (covers) calls.Flop ($160): 8d - 7h - 6sChecks to Hero who bets $120. SB calls.Turn ($400): KdSB checks to Hero who bets $250. SB calls.River ($900): AsSB checks, Hero ???Do I just flip over my cards and I hope I've got the best hand here? It doesn't feel like I'm behind but I couldn't quite settle on what kinds of hands he would call with here for value on the end. Also, what do people think of the bet on the turn? Too little?

Well, you made a PF play, convinced you could outplay them after the flop. And although two pair wins a ton of pots, you did get a lot of action on your hand. So you're stuck here at the river pretty much looking at bottom two and a board that caught up to you real quick. This is why I'm a big fan of betting bigger on the flop with two pair that includes a bottom pair and no face cards on the board yet. Just to close out the hand. The pot's already $900. I think I you can either push or check behind; I usually would check behind. AK would push. Naismith would have pushed PF. Zach would wonder why the hell you're playing NL. EDIT: hahahahaha

this is so flawed. sigh.i mean, i guess if you know your opponent will call a bet that is over the size of the pot, great, go for it. you are getting more money in the pot with them paying a bad price...but just to "end the hand" while you are holding a big hand, on the flop..cuz you are afraid of being outdrawn, or playing later streets, is just not going to make you money in the long run.anyways.- Jordan
