  1. This is a very long post, over 1300 words, and it won't hurt my feelings if you don't want to read it. If you do read it, I welcome assenting or dissenting opinions, especially from Smash. From what I've read of his posts I really respect his opinion, but everyone is definitely welcome to comment. It's all about the system that I use in multi-table tournaments, with reasonable success. I'd love to get Daniel's opinion too, but I kinda doubt he'd have the patience for me since I know he's so busy. I've very much considered writing a book about this. Even if I couldn't get it published, th
  2. The small blind DOESN'T need a hand to call. He'd call with two cards above a 7 or an 8 for the exact same reason everyone here seems to think you need to be in with a marginal hand. You're not going to be a huge favorite over anything except Ax where x is less than 7, and anything else... best case scenario is 60/40 your way. Worst case you're crushed. I don't want to draw the line in the sand on a very marginal hand when there's a high likelihood that a stack that can cripple you will call with almost anything and make it a crapshoot. Yes 60/40 is definitely an advantage, IF you're even
  3. I ran an underground cardroom (which actually had to recently close down because we got robbed at gunpoint, another story for another time), and we used a set of customizable clay chips from Pokerchips.com. I personally have the standard set of 11.5 gram composites with the dice, and I've played with the 11.5 gram suited chips as well.If you don't mind spending the money, the customizable clay chips from Pokerchips.com are without question the best chips money can buy. If you're running a home game or a professional game it's a very nice touch to be able to add the denominations and a logo t
  4. I'm partial to QQ - Siegfried and RoyI've got a couple that are even better than that, although Daniel's thought police might censor me.KJo - The M a s t u r b a t o r (jack-king-off[suit])69 - Big Lick
  5. There actually is a reason, and it does matter quite a bit. If the Big Blind was the button, then the big blind would be last to act both preflop and post-flop. This would amount to a HUGE advantage in a heads up match for whomever was in the big blind, for a couple reasons. Not only acting last, which is reason enough, but being the big blind strengthens your hand. Being the big blind means you're much more likely to play your hand than you would if you were not a blind, which therefore means you're more likely to win that hand. Being last to act both preflop and postflop would mean that
  6. I'm of the opinion that, online especially, you should go all out in that situation. It's almost impossible to read someone for aces online, and by the time you've got an idea that they COULD have aces, the pot is big enough that you'd have to pay it off anyway. On 8-6-2-8-3 I wouldn't mind capping the river, because in a capped pot preflop there's only one thing you're worried about. And if they've got AA, then you've just gotta pay it off.I imagine, that since you're posting this on a forum, you did lose the hand. I still think going all out on every street is the right play, because the
  7. I'm apparently in the minority, but I think this is a pretty easy fold. What everyone seems to be forgetting is if the small blind goes in anyway, which he has a good chance of doing with A-anything, any pocket pair, or any two face cards (or worse, since we ARE online), and wins, your tournament is basically over. The only way you're signicantly better than a 60% favorite is if he has Ax where x is less than 7. Anything else is a 60-40 shot in your favor at best, and at worst you're way behind. Maybe this is just my style and maybe I'm wrong, but I think that with your stack and the blin
  8. I realize it's illogical, that a 30-something divorcee like Annie Duke with 3 or 4 kids could be considered hot. I don't know what it is about her I find attractive, but it's something. DEFINITELY so 10 0r 15 years ago. I'm not ashamed to admit I find her attractive though. Something about her eyes. Definite MILF.
  9. are you psychic DUDE? u spoiled the surprise but i must congratulate you. nice read, remind me to never play cards with u.Heh heh heh, you like that? Come play cards with me anytime, TJEckleburg on Partypoker. I'm gonna go ahead and guess the other matchups while I'm at it... (3) Isabelle Mercier vs. (6) Jennifer Harman, and (4) Annie Duke vs. (5) Cyndy Violette. How close was I? I'll personally be very disappointed if I was off on anything, that's the best seeding I can come up with. Although, I would have given poor Kathy Liebert the benefit of the doubt vs. Maureen Feduniak. Smart mo
  10. I'm pretty sure the "Tobey and Shana affair" was a sarcastic post, because Shana Hiatt is happily married, as is Clonie Gowen. Speaking of Playboy though, Shana Hiatt IS on the COVER of the April '95 Playboy, when she was doing the Hawaiian Tropic thing. You can probably track down pictures on the internet.
  11. Keep in mind, not only is Evelyn Ng the number 1 seed, she has homefield advantage. People forget that her and Negreanu grew up together in Toronto and dated off and on for a while.
  12. What's the 2 seed - 7 seed matchup gonna be? Clonie Gowan vs. Maureen Feduniak? This is going to be more funny than substantive until the semi-finals, LOL.
  13. This isn't hard to debunk. The poker websites use the same security measures and RNG's that bank software companies use. Quite frankly, if an outside source could somehow corrupt it, they wouldn't outdraw your AA in a five dollar sit and go. They'd be rifling through Swiss bank accounts. Until that happens, I feel safe enough using online poker as the medium.
  14. I'm personally quite familiar with the guys at the Spring Mill Cove poker game, colloquially called "Sugarloaf" because it's off of Sugarloaf Pkwy. What the Gwinnett Daily Post doesn't mention is that no fewer than 4 poker games have been robbed, at gunpoint, in the last 3 or 4 months in Atlanta. I know because I ran one of the games that got robbed. As for Sugarloaf though, they were actually the FIRST place in Atlanta to get robbed. For obvious reasons, they didn't call the police. When they re-opened not long ago, they added a lot more security measures, including a remote controlled doo
