  1. i just got back from a year of self exclusion...people are waaay more aggressive in general. Either get aggressive yourself or get real patient in full ring games.
  2. most TV poker can be found on pokertube.com including this episode
  3. the guy ended up having A-9... he was being a super tight call station up until then...i read him for a bigger ace. I was right during this hand...but in general should i have always river bet there?
  4. i was very tempted to value bet this river, but from the read i had on him was that slow played his made hands a majority of the time. In most cases i would have bet at least 3/4 the pot on the river.

  6. very nice article... i'm taking game theory this coming semester and i have a feeling i'll dive deeper into this idea of decision profitability. Thanks for posting!Oh and when i play live i usually never talk when in a hand unless im trying to get info out of someone else. Just be careful not to reveal your hand strength when asking questions. I usually talk about something completely unrelated to poker. My favorite is telling a halarious joke during a high stress situation for them (like if they are trying to hide tells during a big bet) and depending on their reaction i know a little bit mor
  7. Looking for people in the Berkeley Area for some .5/1 or 1/2 NLH or PLO action. Post up or message me if you're interested.
  8. ive played in these games at my local casinos (low limit/high rake)...my advice is don't play them. Move up to the next level, whether its the 2-5 or 3-6 limits. Most of the people who play in the lowest stakes are either donkalicious-super aggro kids or the sharks who buy in for the max and catch the little punks bluffing... unless you feel comfortable buying in for the max and punishing the sup-aggro's by risking more pre-flop, i would move up to the next level stakes. I find that those players generally play real poker...meaning more post-flop play. The pre-flop raises are a little more rea
  9. Like the previous poster said... It really all depends. He knew you were going to keep firing with a marginal hand, and with an overpair to the board, it was right for him to let you do all the betting. Not only did you have no idea what he had, but also thought you were ahead the whole time. So it depends on who your up agianst. If you were a call-station instead of an over-aggressive donk, he would have probably bet into you on all streets. On the hand that you presented, i would advise you next time to maybe consider top pair isnt good after your turn bet is called, and even more so when re
  10. I think this is pretty spot on considering the stage of the tourney you're in. It controls the pot and minimizes the level of risk associated with the draws on the turn. River is a def. check no matter what although i don't think anyone had the flush. I guess if ur really ballsy you could push as though you had it. Very risky though as you are either splitting it or behind.
  11. Probably a fold here for me. If this guy is as tight as you make him seem, it makes sense that the worse he has is J-J or A-K as well...in which case its not worth putting a 5th of ur stack in. And i'm gonna have to agree with some of the previous posts about ur call with A-K in middle-late position. I woulda raised it up so that you know where you are and maybe prevent this BB from doing a squeeze play on you (which he might of).
  12. Personally i don't like to get involved in huge pots right from the start because of these types of situations. Even with a premo hand like A-Q, i try to control the pot with some smaller raises. When i have more reads on the people around me, then i'm more likely to move some chips around. But in this situation i would have probably laid it down just because the best case scenario is he'll have some K-10 with 1 club...considering he needed to have something to call the raise and then bet out on the flop. So he'll have the flush and straight draw..but ur ahead still.More realistically i see hi
