  1. That's truly awful logic.
  2. I thought you did. Isn't one of the Ten Commandments, 'Thou shalt believe in no other God but me' (or words to that effect)? If I don't believe in God, I'm breaking his own laws. How and why would God give me a sense of morality, but fail to make it clear to me that he exists? That, in itself, would be an immoral act from God because he's prepared to punish me when I die for not believing something, even though he himself gave me the brain to work out logically that he does not exist. As for living in a Judeo-Christian country, founded on those principles etc... fine, I'm happy to live in a cul
  3. So, humans can only be moral as a result of a big guy in the sky telling us to be, otherwise we burn in hell. Gotcha, thanks. Why have I never commited a crime, then? Why do I give money to charity? Why do I phone/visit my parents whenever I can, to check how they are? Why do I help someone if I see them in trouble? I don't believe in God, and I think religion is a disgustingly backward practice. Shouldn't I be out killing people?Or maybe I'm just able to abide by an accepted moral code, through common sense, upbringing and education? Crazy idea, huh?
  4. Why do you want to worship somebody who orders you to worship them? That's horrible, in my opinion. It's like me giving a homeless person some money and expecting them to bow down to me for the rest of the day. A little bit like your 'heaven', where you worship God for eternity... that's my idea of hell. If heaven did exist, I genuinely wouldn't want to go there. As for the morality issue BG, are you a moral person because of God, or despite him? i.e - you only obey laws etc, because of your fear of God? Is that really being genuinely moral, at all? Or is it a selfish repression of your real
  5. Ivey is killing him too. Up to 1.3m on one table, 800k on another.Oh, and RIP Doyle. Again.
  6. Dayuuuuummmm...!!I was 50-50 to do Dempsey or Bullard this week... was only going to be one of those two. Obviously I picked the wrong one. That's about the 3rd or 4th time so far this season I've been this >< close to getting someone in who gets a huge score.
  7. He certainly did.By the way, just to make this clear in case it's not, it's possible to acknowledge Henry cheated without being too bothered with him for doing that. There's no doubt he cheated, intentionally. In fact, it's an insult to Henry himself if you don't think he did! The guy is one of the most talented footballers in the world, extremely co-ordinated, and knew exactly his actions. If Henry does an intentional flick, in the space of 1 second, as the ball comes to him you'd say he meant it. Trust me, Henry had the time to know what he was doing. However that, as you can see from my post
  8. Hey, you leave it out! They're our chavs. British chavs. And we're mighty proud of them.
  9. I don't think anyone (in this thread, anyway) is getting pissy at Henry. Footballers will obviously do whatever to gain an advantage. They might end up looking bad, but there's a lot at stake... I'd probably do the same if I was a professional footballer. The point is that things like this shouldn't be allowed to stand at the highest level of world football. Not when there's a very easy solution, video replays, to solve the problem. It's ridiculous.
  10. Which is utter nonsense, of course. I really hate that argument, oh yeah we've got to link the game to it's grass roots, what the hell does that even mean? I suppose all those people playing Sunday football at the local park relate to being on £100,000 per week, having 5 Ferraris, and transfer fees of £80m. People are not stupid, they do understand that there's massive differences between playing local football and football at the very highest level. When I was a kid, I'd have a kick around in the garden with my mates, right after we watched an England match, for example. We didn't think we wer
  11. Because FIFA are a backward (and corrupt, but that's another story) organization, living in the 1970's, full of men aged 60 and over. They don't seem to have realized that football has become much much faster paced than it used to be, and they are clueless about how to handle it without embracing video technology.Situations like this are only going to happen more and more, as footballers become more adept at cheating, whether it's diving, wasting time, handballing, or anything else. More and more games are ending in controversy these days, more often than not over whether someone has cheated..
  12. How does that work, exactly? Can you just run me through the kind of scenario 'up there', so I can imagine it. It sounds perfectly reasonable to me, of course, but just to clarify... you'll be sitting next to God? Will he be watching it with you? I basically want the exact details.
  13. Ugh. That's a bad way to lose.If Ireland had taken those earlier chances in the second half, it could have been so different. I've said it so many times though, football needs video technology... it's an embarrassment that FIFA are so backward about this.
  14. France 0 - 1 Ireland at HT!If Ireland keep pressing, keep trying to create for the first 20-25 mins of the second half, they could do this. Sneak another goal and then defend for their lives. Come on...
  15. Doesn't sound far-fetched, I'm sure it happens on various levels. The only issue is the longevity of any group like this. The likelyhood is that one or two of the more succesful in a group, would get greedy and decide to go it alone, where they'd stand to win lots of money for themselves without dividing it by 4, 5 or more.
  16. Come on Ireland... I'd love it if they could pull off a huge surprise here.
  17. And my advice, to counter BG's slightly, would be to just think a little more before you completely open your heart and all emotions to someone who you really don't know. While you don't have to openly criticize him at all obviously, beware if/when you ever talk to him again. The guy has shown himself to be a dispicable lier and thief, who goes out of his way to disregard others' emotions. But then, also remember that I don't believe in Jesus and stuff, so I'm probably a bad person.
  18. Wow, great thread. Would read again.
  19. The first rule of Specbrad is that you don't talk about Specbrad.Who is he anyway? Never heard of him.
  20. Another good night for the French teams. They're looking much stronger this year, let's hope it continues tomorrow.
  21. My strategical masterplan of captaining Milner this week has backfired. Goddammit, had some bad luck the last couple of weeks. I don't think we ever decided we were going to keep the monthly bets running. I'd be happy to decide to just keep the $5 running though... I mean, it's $5. I don't know what we'll do for October, perhaps just use an honesty system so, if you feel you were in the $5 pool this month... pay the winner. But for November and onwards, let's make it clear now. Those who want to be part of a running $5 monthly bet until the end of the season, please post. If you decide you do
