  1. I think the conventional wisdom sadly underestimates the US. The US has two pairs that figure to win a more than a majority of the points they play for. Then there's David Toms and Chad Campbell, I figure them to at least split their matches. That leaves Verplank and Cink -- real grit paired with a great putter, Wetterich is a bomber that should be good in fourball, JJ Henry is playing the best golf of his life, Vaughn Taylor and Zach Johnson should be a very good foursomes team. Overall, I think the US will have the lead going into the singles (9-7 or something like that). Europe is deep
  2. While I suspect that DN would agree that he has not played his best poker on HSP, all the posts regarding his play are based on very incomplete information. We have little or no infomation regarding amounts won or lost, we see only hands where there is conflict, the posts do not take in account any of DN's other play play. I say all this to caution people that editing of a golf tournament could turn Tiger Woods into a hacker from the real champion he is. We all the the benefit of seeing the hole cards and do not have the benefit of the years of play DN has had with his competitors or even t
  3. Caesars Palace: ask for Augustus Tower, great rooms, good pool, good restaurants, nice poker room, good shopping, good golf course associated with it. Pretty good for the honeymoon.Best of luck --Burgerman
  4. DN -- You gave a very interesting description of running over tables of amateurs at the WSOP ME. It obviously worked to help you build your stack. How exactly does this work? I know you raise pre-flop almost every hand. However, no matter how weak, tight the players are, I would think a nine or ten-handed game would produce a hand that could re-raise at least 50% of the time. Then what? Didn't they raise or did you also commit to the flop and beating them in post-flop play? I'm interested in how you pushed the tight, weak players and changed up when you met other good players. Thanks!A
  5. Good advice SCGolfer. I agree totally. The FCP'er that says inside 60 yards isn't that important hasn't played enough golf. Getting the ball in the hole from that distance and inside of it consistently is where the big guys separate themselves. There's not much difference in the long game per se.Go low --Burgerman
  6. In Vegas I allow for an extra 10% more distance on each club due to altitude and thin air. I calculate roll after that. But you're right, lots of chase on your driver and shots in the fairway.Go low --Burgerman
  7. Despite the considerable distances (most of you guys a far above average with your irons) you hit the ball, it's the short game that matters most when it comes to score. If you don't believe me, count your stokes inside 60 yards. It sounds like DN is a bit inconsistent in his long game. That means lessons and practice until its automatic solid contact. Then alignment will enter the picture.Go low --BurgermanL Wedge 80S Wedge 105P Wedge 1209 iron 1308 iron 1457 iron 1606 iron 1705 iron 1804 iron 190Rescue 2104 Wood 2203 Wood 235Driver
  8. I'm very surprised that Daniel flys commercial. Generally, guys with his kind of cash flow have a fractional share of a private jet. It would allow him to avoid these kinds of hassles. Too bad for the tournament and DN. But there will be many, many others.Best --Burgerman
  9. I saw the results for today as well. My offer still stands. I will cover any bet on Europe straight up.Burgerman
  10. I would be more interested in successful cash game tutoring than tournament play. I'd like to see what isn't in the books. Seems like Ben Affleck won a tournament after working with Annie Duke, Jamie Gold (not my favorite) did well after working with Johnny Chan. I'm not willing to do anything but pay to learn, BTW. I'd probably say a rate of $500 per hour would be fair -- 30 hours minimum commitment.Best -- Burgerman
  11. I'd be more interested in one-on-one instruction from one of the very good poker professionals.Burgerman
  12. Which major professional poker players teach the nuances of the game in private sessions? In golf, you can actually work with the biggest name and best teachers for relatively moderate sums. Is this true in poker as well?I've heard of Camp Hellmuth.Annie Duke has tutored Ben Affleck.Johnny Chan helped Jamie Gold.Phil Laak has taught Jennifer Tilly. What are some others you've heard of. What were the fees? Include a percentage of winnings? For how long? etc. Thanks!Burgerman
  13. I would love to play if there is a tourney of any kind. Burgerman
  14. DN is there a golf report today or are you traveling East for the Borgata event?Burgerman
  15. If you would like to bet on Europe I will be glad to cover it. Please let me know the amount.BurgermanP.S. I'm not looking for odds or points. This is straight up.
  16. OP is experiencing a statistical deviation from the norm. It is likely that it will correct. However, odds calculators are correct only if you play to INFINITY. That's a long time.Burgerman
  17. Tiger is the greatest player ever. He knows how to play the motivation game. But he's not much of a handicapper. I'll cover all bets on Europe straight up for whatever anyone wants to wager. A tied match pushes.Burgerman
  18. I'd have to give up poker. The world is divided into golfers and non-golfers. I would hate to choose but my beloved craps would have to suffice for gambling.Burgerman
  19. Which is a bigger rush?1) Flopping the absolute nuts in a NL Hold'em cash game with lots of pre-flop action and two players raise in front of youor2) Hitting a 4 iron over water from 190 yards to less than a foot and tapping in your birdieYou decide. I pick the 4 iron -- especially if there is a gallery and it gets me a skin. Burgerman
  20. good post...interesting story....Burgerman
  21. When DN goes weird with the poetry, I follow suit with Caddyshack's greatest scenes:Carl Spackler: What an incredible Cinderella story, this unknown comes outta no where to lead the pack, at Augusta. He's on his final hole, he's about 455 yards away - he's gonna hit about a two-iron I think. Oh he got all of that one! The crowd is standing on its feet here, the normally reserved Augusta crowd - going wild - for this young Cinderella, he's come outta no where, he's got about 350 yards left, he's gonna hit about a five-iron, don't you think? He's got a beautiful backswing - that's - Oh he got al
  22. DN have you been talking with Ty Webb?"I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball. [while putting] Naaa naa naaaa naaaa." Ty Webb -- CaddyshackBest --Burgerman
  23. How did you like and how did you play?Burgerman
