  1. You don't want to build up a pot with a nut flush draw in a 7-way field? That was the reason for the less-than-1/2 pot bet on the flop, to induce calls.Aseem
  2. 400 PLO8, nine-handedSB - $560MP1 - $399Hero - $860Hero is CO with Ac Ks Ts 9c...., MP1 limps, MP2 limps, MP3 limps, Hero limps, Button limps, SB completes, BB checks.($28, 7 plrs) 7c 4d 2c5 checks, Hero bets $12, ..., SB calls, ..., MP1 raises pot to $76, ..., Hero folds, ...In case that wasn't clear, it checked to me one off the button, I bet a small less than 1/2 pot bet, one player called, MP1 checkraised, and it folded back to me. I'm not closing the action, SB still has to act.Was the bet bad in the first place? Given so, was the fold bad? This is a really basic situation and I want to w
  3. yeah, admittedly these hands are tough and if you want to avoid these very marginal situations, it's best to play tighter preflop.but i think if over time you build your comfort level in these situations, you'll be much more versed for tougher games as you move up or play more short-handed and ultra-short-handed and heads-up.and i think your winrate will go up, because the idea is that your opponents who are also playing loose are consistently making bad decisions in these same spots where you're making better decisions over time.they're tough hands, no doubt, but so what? =) if you play in ga
  4. good question. it's pretty read dependent and without a read i would just call (down).i know that sounds pretty passive and calling-station-ish, but... i hate using this term so much, it is reasonably wa/wb given most villain's three-betting-from-the-bb ranges.AK -- we are way behind. AQ -- we chop. AJ -- we are almost way ahead. AA -- we are way behind. KK -- we are way behind. QQ -- we are way behind. JJ and below -- we are way ahead (except a flopped set). KQ -- we are way behind. KJ -- we are way behind.i don't think our hand is great compared to this type of range, enough to raise for val
  5. this is a good hand for discussion, and unfortunately it seems that everyone is all over the place. so here are my two cents, take them for what it's worth.preflop is a call, and i don't think it's that close. assuming you have a decent postflop edge, you have a decent multiway hand.flop is a checkraise, but it's close because actuary is right that we find out for cheaper if someone has a strong hand if they raise. but, i disagree because the board is so draw-heavy, we really want to make the field face two. and also, realize that flush draws and oesds will frequently raise your flop bet, so i
  6. haven't read replies, sorry if i repeat some things.obv the physical tell is a factor. ignoring it, preflop is correct bc you want to isolate villain w/ position and a hand that compares favorably going into the flop against his range. flop is a fold if he bets after capping pf, but when he checks, i reluctantly bet if that's truly suspicious, folding to a raise and i'm done w/ the hand if he calls. turn is obv correct, and w/o a read i would raise the river still.physical tells are very person-dependent so i'll let you factor them in however you want, e.g. flat-calling the river is fine w/ a
  7. i don't raise the flop. the only reason for raising is info i think, and i've never been a fan of that reason in lhe.i think op played the hand correctly every street. river can be a call if mp is out of line w/ the really weird turn cr.aseem
  8. 8/16 six maxUTG is not a maniac but is very aggro with a hand. For example, he three-bet a J-high flop with AJo after I check-raised, I capped, turn brick, I bet, and he still raised ui. Also peels somewhat loosely with overcards. Raising range preflop is probably standard, and he does cbet.MP is a fish. Complete calling station overall, but has a tendency to bluff with bet/folds occasionally. Not sure exactly how that applies here but some food for thought.Hero is Button with As Ts.UTG raises, MP cold-calls, ..., Hero cold-calls, ..., BB calls.(8.5 sb, 4 plrs) Ah 8h 4dBB checks, UTG bets, MP
  9. 400 PLO8, ringBB - $522UTG - $516Hero - $314 (didn't realize I was under the max, whoops)Hero is MP with As Ad Ts 6d.UTG limps, ..., Hero limps, ..., SB completes, BB checks.($16, 4 plrs) Ac Js 8h rSB checks, BB checks, UTG bets $12, Hero raises pot to $52, SB folds, BB cold-calls, UTG calls.($172, 3 plrs) 7d rBB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks.($172, 3 plrs) QdBB checks, UTG bets pot at $172, Hero ...?Was the turn check right? I figured that the only reasonable draw for high was 10-9, and it hit. However, given that the flop action could also mean low draws, is the river a call since it doesn
  10. really? it's easy in hold 'em but i thought in o8 that wasn't great bc the only hands that will really give you action are two pairs and sets usually. if i had a low draw i would definitely do it. can you explain?thanks, aseem
  11. probably a deposit limit on the site, e.g. $1k/day on full tilt and stars.aseem
  12. this is mind-boggling how far off you can be in your logic.1. yes, it's close. close has nothing to do with the probability -- it could be 3/4 and be close, or it could be 29/30 and be close. what defines how close it is, is the probability in relation to the pot odds. can you seriously say with certainty that we're good less than 1/16 times? how the heck does one even measure this statistic? it's only based on intuition, and as the pot odds get bigger and bigger, it's harder to say with certainty that we should fold, because we have to be correct so seldom to still show a profit, and it's rid
  13. I'm normally a big advocate of calling on the river, and this is admittedly pretty close given the odds but more importantly the fact that you're closing the action, BUT I would fold this river -- four-straight (two possible ways of making a straight), the flush got there, a good/tight player is showing strength, AND a weak/tight player isn't folding on this horrendous board. I think we're beat more than 15/16 times, but it's close.Aseem
  14. just to be clear, he's not retarded in bet/folding a KQ3 flop. i'm pretty sure that calling down vs your opening range is like handing you chips in a bag in the long run.aseem
  15. lol, getting 17-to-1.to bet/call you need to be good 67% of the time... to bet/fold you need to be good 50% of the time.17-to-1.bet/call >>> check >>>>>>>> bet/fold.... imo.aseem
  16. You played the hand well except that you might consider NOT capping the flop if you think doing so prevents the SB from leading a brick turn (you want to be raising a brick turn).Aseem
  17. serious advice: start repeatedly clicking "previous hand" after every hand that goes to showdown. see what people are willing to go to showdown with.including but not limited to: underpairs, ace high, middle pairs, missed draws that hit bottom pair on the river and call out of spite/frustration, missed draws that bluff, and king high.assuming the river didn't help villian (see my previous post, this is the case the vast majority of the time), wtf does villian go to the river with that he won't call one final bet to see a showdown???you are being pessimistic times 500.aseem
  18. In a game this awesome (I <3 seven way flops), you should be raising pf for value. The flop is close. At first I thought "wow easy fold, whopping FIVE people to act behind you (inc the PF raiser), chances of a raise are so high", but how many outs do you have?1.5 for the bdfd, 1 for your king (3 total, but I think it's good less than 1/2 the time when you hit), 0.5 for the bdsd, so ~ 3 outs.Getting 15-to-1 here, would I fold a gutshot? **** no. And it's not much different. But not closing the action really does suck a lot.So, I think it boils down to a few things.a. Does BB suck hardcore? Is
  19. wow, you come off as a total *** hole. I don't normally call people out but you are starting to really annoy me. In so many threads, you not only give bad advice a lot, but you also then insult anyone who disagrees. funny that you tell OP to post something meaningful.lol, for future reference, this is actually a really tough hand to maximize EV on, both on the flop and the river. OP definitely has raised a good question, esp about the river, since CO almost always has an overpair here and it seems like a decent chance he will bet if checked to.aseem
  20. sorry if this comes off as arrogant, but there is a lot of bad advice in this thread. but my advice may be terrible also, take it for what it's worth. (and in general, take all advice on any forum with a heavy grain of salt... there is plenty of bad advice everywhere.)1. your opponents are almost never putting you on ranges and calculating equities. it makes no difference what your opening range is unless you know for a fact that your opponents are 2nd-level or higher AND they are paying attention AND they actually know wtf your range is.2. in loose avg games, ppl are straightforward and simil
  21. easyeasyeasyeasyeasyeasy betcome on, you have to think beyond just "uh oh ace is bad because Ax beats me".think of ALLLLLLLLL the hands he bet/calls the flop AND the turn with.how many of those realistically include an ace?forget card probabilities and ****, i'm not even talking about that. i just mean that you have to think beyond one street... the river isn't just in isolation. you shouldn't think "he raised preflop, he could have an ace". you should think "he raised preflop, but bet a 976 flop, AND called a raise... and then bet again on a 6 turn, AND called a raise AGAIN...."this is suuuuu
  22. 200 plo8, ringI am in early pos with Ac 2s 4c 6s.I open to $7, ..., MP calls, ..., CO calls, ..., SB calls, BB calls.($35) Jc 9c 2hchecked around($35) 3sSB bets $17.50, BB min raises to $35, I ...edit: Just some helpful numbers... after my call, the pot will be at a little over $120... and I have roughly $200 in my stack (BB covers, don't remember SB) at the beginning of the turn, so I'll have roughly $165 after the turn call.BB is a huuuuge donkey, min raises a lot, marries light, etc.Is it better to isolate here by repopping hard with dead money in the pot, or do I just call? Thanks,Aseem
  23. 1000 plo8, six-handedSB - $1250Hero - coversI am Button with Ac Qc As 3s.UTG limps, ..., I raise to $45, SB cold-calls, ..., UTG folds.($110) Kc 7c 5hSB bets $55, UTG folds, I raise to $275, SB calls.($660) KsSB bets $660, Hero ...SB has $245 behind. If I call this turn, I plan to call any river and bet his remaining stack if checked to on any river. No read on SB unfortunately, he is new and I have never played with him before. I just know that in this game, for the most part, people DO think beyond their cards (at least a little), and I am pretty much playing aces face up here (I think). Thanks
  24. River is an absolutely no fold. The close decision is on the turn, whether you should raise the donkbet (folding to a three-bet, but if he calls, still CALLING THIS RIVER), or just call down.It boils down to a player read, and if none is there, table texture. There are definitely players that donk bet only when they improve, so the flop meant hitting a pair and the turn meant hitting two pair. On the other hand, there are definitely players that have this subconscious obsession with "must... put... money... in... with... one... pair... every... street..." so they bet/call repeatedly.Absent a re
