  1. Well I don't see how Rose can possibly screw all of grammar and logic up, now.
  2. "Well, now, you have LeBron James. I have spent the last three years rooting desperately against LeBron James – being a Clevelander and all – and so I can say this with some degree of conviction: I don’t think Jordan or anyone else has played basketball as well as LeBron James plays it now. This comes from the same miserable conviction that leads me to believe that no quarterback was ever scarier in the final two minutes than John Elway, who ruined my childhood with his comebacks against the Cleveland Browns. I believe that it is the people who root AGAINST an athlete who see that athlete more
  3. Predictions? I'll say it finishes as a 6.5/10. For reference, seasons 1 and 2 are 10.0 for me, and 3 is a 7.5 or so.
  4. You're still doing it. You are saying, "no, it is not upsetting," but then you're following that with, "when you add it to all of the other upsetting stuff, it certainly warrants a reaction." I'm not trying to set you up, man. If the umbrella thing bothers you, just admit it and say, "You know, the umbrella thing bothers me. It might seem silly to some people, but it genuinely concerns me, and here's why..." Own that shit, man. Or say, "no, it's silly nonsense and has no bearing in a real political discussion, on any level." IT CAN ONLY BE ONE. Take a position. If you waffle all the tim
  5. Democrats had to spend eight years dealing with what they perceived to be a criminal and criminally unqualified President in George W. Bush. Republicans, it seems, feel the same way about Obama. So when Republicans criticize Obama, some Democrats respond, "Can't touch me, Bush was worse." If the point is, "Republicans are being hypocritical by pointing to Obama's flaws when they were so vociferously defending worse/similar mistakes by Bush," then the only takeaway is, "okay, so that's hypocritical." It doesn't change the content of the criticisms, or make them any less appropriate.
  6. Cabrera HR Compilation GIF That is retarded
  7. This is just what? Cabrera HR Compilation GIF
  8. It's like an allegory for Democratic primaries from the early part of the millennium. And while any victory in the battle royale above would be a Pyrrhic victory, the loser suffers even more. I'm pretty sure, the way it works is, that each poster remains in his position relative to the other, but they both move even farther from the third worst position.
  9. You said, "nope," but then you went on to explain why it actually was upsetting. I'm legitimately confused as to whether you think the umbrella thing is a real issue or not.
  10. You're still missing the point that we (me, Essay, Shake, et. al.) are trying to make. Randy was saying "it's simple. Just go for a run." That is not the same as "running can help." Add that to all the other "just do it, depression is a character flaw" nonsense, and the depressoids are understandably irked. The advice was not decent. It's not an easy conversation for many people. It's tantamount to asking for help, which is always difficult. That you have friends and a other who would gladly listen and provide counsel is awesome. I'm the same way, buti know people who honestly do
  11. What are the rules about getting lippy with Tilt? Same as Randy? Is Tilty a made man? Can I get a ruling on this?
  12. From what I understand, exercise can offer mild, temporary relief, which ain't nothing, but isn't a longterm solution, either. You and I do not disagree very much, but we don't seem to be having the same conversation, really. I'm mobile, so I'm not going to parse the study too closely, but here is the conclusion for anyone too lazy to click: Exercise seems to improve depressive symptoms in people with a diagnosis of depression when compared with no treatment or control intervention, however since analyses of methodologically robust trials show a much smaller effect in favour of e
  13. Really? Why would I take HIS advice and shove it up MY ass?
  14. Nobody, least of all me, suggested drugs are the only or ultimate solution. They can be, however, crucially helpful as one begins the long process of getting healthy. The temporary relief from symptoms is sometimes the match you use to start building a fire. "Hey, this is what normal feels like. Motivation!" Ironically, getting healthy was incredibly helpful in my case, but "hey just go for a run fag" would not have been helpful advice. At all. Until I had a foundation, trimming 30 pounds and 20bpm would have been all but pointless, not to mention nearly impossible. And, finally, there
  15. 2 spicy, 2 regs. Cool Ranch Doritos on top of the spicy McChicks, Chipotle BBQ on the regs. And four leftover Bud Light Strawberitas while the Tigers are delayed. EDIT: No lettuce. NEVER LETTUCE
  16. "Sounds like this has been a game-changing day for all of us. I almost sat on my balls, but at the last second I made an adjustment." "Okay. I didn't avoid sitting on them. Sat right on them. Hurt like hell. I saw eagles." I'm watching another episode of Chuck and eating 4 McChickens topped with extra mayo, fries, and Chipotle BBQ Doritos, then drinking alone in my car outside of a bar between innings of the Tigers/Twins game.
  17. Concerning the reaction to what I said in response to RollTheBones' post last night I tried to go through and multi-quote everything and exhaustively respond, line-by-line, but that was going to be exhausting as well as pointless. If I defend myself against all of the "don't be mean to Uncle Randy" stuff, including everything said Uncle lobbed at me (and I might just respond to some of that later, if I get drunk), it will come across as petty, touchy, whiny, and overly sensitive and defensive. I can't leave it completely, so let me say this. I believe, while Bones' heart may have been in
  18. I googled "Daniel Negreanu gay depressing" and this was the first result.
  19. It's like, what if you had a squiggly line, and it went from really squiggly to less squiggly. And also what if you put two dots in the right place so it looked like a sad face, maybe. It's like that.
  20. Were you in a war or something?
  21. I can't imagine it could hurt. ***thinking*** Actually... yeah I can.
  22. It's rarely that extreme. Usually it manifests as simply feeling less. Imagine a sine curve. That's normal. Now cut the amplitude in half (and probably shift the curve down). That's kinda what it's like. The highs are just... lower. Or nonexistent.
  23. I would argue I'm more sensitive to condescension and stupidity. But, yeah, I probably get overly tetchy when people are dismissive of depression. It's not fair to expect someone who hasn't been there to understand, so in most cases, railing about it is silly. Not this case, though. In this case it was well deserved. Just do it. Not sure if you're semi-serious, but I've been getting maaaaaaaaaad pelt, and still had to fake every human interaction for 3 months because I could barely remember what a feeling was. Ironically, many anti-depression drugs are total libido killers.
  24. Are you a crazy person? The bolded parts are... disturbing. The entire paragraph is disturbing, but the bolded parts are "please get away from my child he is only a child" disturbing. You should not be giving anyone mental health advice. Your heart might be in the right place, but you need to stop. Whatever you were doing when you wrote that, stop doing it forever I can't let some of this go without commenting on it. Depression is a serious medical condition. It is not cured by "exercise and diet." There is a difference between hating yourself because you're fat and out of s
