  1. that's the best idea ever. i actually had it earlier. daniel or somebody should really press for that from cardplayer, to sync up the commentary with the video of holecards. this would be much more interesting than the espn footage alone and millions of people watch that.
  2. i'd like to hear puggy with doyle and amarillo... oh and maybe ivey.
  3. Where on PokerChamps is the webcast thing? I downloaded the software and can't find it.
  4. Keep going. Represent FCP. We believe in you.On a side note, I think you should loosen up slightly IMO.-mcb
  5. Sorry for the bump but I need help. Especially before the reload for tomorrow.
  6. Hey guys, I was a little upset to find that although I made my deposit to Empire using Firepay, it doesn't seem that there's an option to withdraw using Firepay. Is this true or am I missing something?I've been trying to set up my Neteller account, but they ran into some stupid problem where I have to go get stuff to fax in to them for security.Hopefully, I'm just missing something. Help me out people.-mcb
  7. I saw an ad on tv for the Heads Up Championship on CNBC that's supposed to be on some time today. Is this a problem with the rebroadcast that I'm seeing old ads or is this the truth? If so, what time is it on?Thanksmcb
  8. I realize that this may be a very controversial subject.I want to start off by saying that I love Doyle Brunson. I love his books (not just S/S and S/SII), I love his style, and I love his personality. That being said, I don't think he's really all that intelligent. I mean, I think he's very smart, but I don't think he's a genius like many of the other top players.I'm sure you all have thoughts on this, so go ahead and flame away.-mcb
  9. The question isn't to whether or not the dealer heard the all-in and all-in call. Rather it is whether the all-in is a legal play in the first place. Unfortunately, since it's a limit game, this isn't a legal play. You should have just kept reraising the $10. Personally, I don't blame you for getting caught up in the moment and sacrificing all those chips you could have easily had. I'm glad to hear it turned out good anyway.
  10. Eclypse, I apologize for the confusion (my confusion). You are right in that your original post included more than an introduction to EV. It seemed to me at the time that the philosophy you hold was nothing more than over emphasizing the importance of positive EVs. While I don't think I hold this philosophy to the degree that you appear to, I find it very interesting. I'm curious now as to how many other players hold this strong of a philosophical belief in long term. This is the reason why I wanted the thread to remain focused on the question at hand. You've got me sidetracked by some o
  11. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for a right or wrong answer. I'm looking for what various individual poker players feel is a good estimate.Anyway, thanks for the response. Keep 'em coming, people.-mcb
  12. Jonnyz, thank you for your answer. You are (at the time of my typing this) the only one to have anywhere near answered what I was asking for. When I asked for "numbers" it was not an excuse for people to give an introduction for topics like pot odds and expected value. I am not interested in discussion about the importance of long term vs. short term gambling as I (and most of us here) already have a solid understanding of this concept. My question restated is simply this:How long does the "short term" last?Give me numbers of hours or hands, as well as your level and area of expertise (ie ring
  13. You often hear brief mentionings of the importance of playing with the "long term" in mind. Inside straight draws with pot odds of 4 to 1 are for short term gamblers, not poker players, etc.Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what everybody here thinks about how long the short run is. When do you consider a poker player to have entered the long run?I want numbers here, and don't read the other posters answers until you've answered. Nobody (intelligent) will make fun of you and I'm only interested in your honest thoughts. Also, include your level of play, including average stakes played and num
  14. Although five hundred may be a little on the conservative side, you'll probably want to sit down with at least two or three hundred. As for the strategy... Spread limit does allow for a little bit more creative moves than does fixed limit, but not much. It is still much closer to fixed limit than pot limit or no limit, and therefore, the general (and I do mean general) strategy is more closely related to fixed limit. Most of your bets/raises should be the max bet, especially in the later rounds of betting. There are alot of times when it's a better idea to do a minimum bet or somewhere in bet
