  1. I second both Ocean's 11 and Viejas. Viejas has low buyin tournaments in the morning and evening. Ocean's 11 has good games and cheap food.
  2. Okay, maybe it was a weak attempt to add reasons to raise the flop.Assuming we trust our read (AA or KK), I think we should raise the flop. SB gets to keep the lead if he 3-bets so we don't change much going into the turn except psossibly losing CO. I'm okay with him leaving his 3sb and going away. Some flop action may help tie the SB to his overpair. I offer that we are already married to ours. So when we raise the turn even if an A or K hits he may still call incorrectly when he holds the opposite pair.We have to get a raise in somewhere or we always win the minimum.
  3. I think you are much better off playing sets fast. You don't really want the third player coming along with 67s. If he c/r's the turn A, slow down.
  4. I think alot can be learned by paying attention to how people are playing and behaving--even online. I try not to put too much stock in chat alone, but MP2's play and chat were becoming consistent. So the river cap was pretty easy.MP2 (Tilty) was already complaining before the hand below occurred. He and I crossed paths two hands later.PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q, 5. 1 fold, UTG+1 (The Needle) calls, 4 folds, Button (Tilty) calls, SB completes, BB checks.Flop: (4 SB) 2, 6, A(
  5. MP2 has been ranting about everyone drawing out on him when he flops top pair (mid pairs 9s and Js recently)--seems to be tilting a bit.A couple of things:1. Is there value in 3-betting the flop?2. Should I c/r the turn when I pick up the straight draw?3. Is going for the river c/r too fancy? I was confident he would bet, but is it worth the risk? Thanks in advance.PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with Q, T. 2 folds, Hero calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 f
  6. Ah, you've seen this play before. lolYes, he had KJ.I think the turn raise was a mistake against someone who could have anything. I thought QT so I raised. The 3-bet made me look for somethingbigger--ie 66 or KJ. The monsters also crossed my mind AA, TT, AQ, QQ.here is how it ended:Turn: (7.25 BB) T(2 players)MP2 bets, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, Hero calls.River: (13.25 BB) A(2 players)MP2 bets, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, Hero calls.Final Pot: 19.25 BBAgain, I get 3-bet and in utter confusion call his 3-bet with the second nuts muttering, "could he really have AQ?"I'm still learning.
  7. Looking for some thoughts on this one.Reads:Second orbit for CO. He raised 2/4 of his later position hands first time through. 8. This crossed my mind (after I had checked the flop), but then the 3rd player lead the turn. My default is 3-bet flop/lead turn or call the cap/CR safe turn (in this case call down)--much easier. This might be a good mix up play, but too much work for the default.
  9. The turn and river were unkind. I made the hand harder to play by no t 3-betting the flop.CO is the weakest player at the table. He plays too many hands, but is not tricky. My read is that he doesn't raise the flop with many hands with a J (maybe KJ), but TPGK or oddball two pair are most likely for him so I value bet the river.MP3 is less well known, but leans toward aggressive. He leads the turn which shook me, but I stuck with the plan (I will have outs against a straight). How did I do?PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: F
  10. It seems we have different views of the same point. Not many hands like this flop. There are plenty of players that love to call flop bets so lets try get somebody to make a mistake on flop and maybe another on the turn. There aren't many cards out there that anyone else can catch to improve so slow playing seems kind of pointless to me.It probably doesn't matter in the long run. You only win big against 6's full and some smaller pp that fills up. The 6s and some of the pp's will raise behind you on the flop in my opinion.
  11. MP3 specifically is based on the hand as played. My point really was that opeing the flop betting doesn't telegraph you have a monster. Oh, and having the flop checked through blows.
  12. Maybe I'm stubborn. If I really believe the players are passive, then you are right and the raise is a made hand that has me in bad shape. However, I know I would raise an OESD. I'm ahead of the draws by at least a little and a safe turn widens my edge.Where to dump this hand if you get someone playing back at you is a tough question.
  13. I probably call a raise on the flop and c/f the turn unimproved--if I am learning anything here.
  14. I think you can bet this flop and give MP3 a chance to raise. Then call and CR the turn.
  15. Generally passive table. Two things, 1) am I right to try to protect my hand with this board and is leading my best option? and 2) how about the river play? I don't know what worse hands call.ThanksPokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: Hero is BB with 4, Q. 16. Most of the time I would raise this flop. Here I thought of keeping others in with three left to act. 17. I'm in this camp even though I think we are beat here alot of the time.
  18. Yeah, it looks obvious now.I think I was trying to salvage some outs, not clean them up.
  19. Do you think the info you gain by his response to a c/r is more credible?I think it may be. I still probably call a 3-bet and call down unless an A/K hits.If he just calls I bet the rest of way as well.

  21. I think the pot is too small to call the turn as played. I also think 10 outs is a bit optimistic. I wouldn't love seeing the Js on the turn even with my redraw. It is probably closer than I thought at the time.If we pump it up on the flop, I think we have to call the turn.

  23. Thanks for your thoughts.I think I strayed over the to aggro side of late and am trying to find the right balance point. I am concerned about swinging too much to the passive side as I muddle along.
  24. Well, since I got myself so involved on pre-flop, I was planning to call down unless I see an overcard. So 2h on the turn => call. River A => fold. Not a lot of respect for villian's first raise, but I'm thinking maybe too much for the cap.
  25. Villian has a wide pre-flop raise range (or I rationalize overplaying JJ). This is the first time I've seen him cap which got my attention.
