  1. 1.) With a scary board like that, a lot of people raise on the flop with middle pair or nothing just to see how much everyone else likes their hand. It's a play I've made plenty of times and won a fair share of pots with.2.) It was going to be a very big pot and I like to make damn sure someone has a better hand than me before I go folding it.3.) I knew the size of the pot may give me odds to draw to my outs on the river. I would have felt pretty good about my hand if an Ace (2), King (2) or Ten (3) hit on the river. That's 6 or 7 outs.4.) Did you read the rest of the hand? That's why!!Tha
  2. In the LA area your best bet for under 21 poker is Casino Morongo, which is out on I-10 towards Palm Springs. From downtown LA it is roughly a 30-45 minute drive so long as you don't attempt it during a peak traffic time. They spread a wide range of limit games from low-limit of the 3/6 variety up through 15/30, 20/40 and the like. I don't play limit so much, so I think your best bet is to look them up on google and call the poker room to see what limits they spread regularly. They have capped buy-in $100 max and $200 max NL games, and also spread a 5/10 $500 min NL game. Plenty of young faces i
  3. You are so far behind in this hand you had no business raising and then calling on the flop. With all the players that saw the flop at least one is practically guaranteed to have an ace, and given the raise/re-raise I'd say one has the straight or at least two pair. The answer is fold.
  4. I was able to gather it from the context of the post, but for future questions could you make it clear whether we are talking tournament or ring game? Granted, I haven't sat in too many recent NL ring games that have an ante, but it would be nice to specify. In the case of a ring game I think it's a definite fold barring extenuating circumstances. Also it would be nice just for clarity (although it was hardly needed for this question) to say NL vs. PL, etc.
  5. I have often gotten my opponents to fold better holdings (like, they show their cards and heave a big sigh) by check-raising them. This only works, however, if you also sometimes check-raise with the goods.
  6. A while back, I was doing a bit of reading on available material for triple-draw lowball, and came across the following thread in RGP:linkIn this thread, Daniel and GCF trade barbs back and forth and at one point in the discussion of starting hands, Daniel says the following: Daniel's conviction in this statement interested me, so I did what he said; I ran this as a simulation on twodimes.net's hand analyzer. Here are the results:pokenum -l27 2c 3s 4d - 2d 3c 7h 5-card Draw 2-7 Lowball: 3916440 enumerated outcomescards win %win lose %lose tie %tie
